Description: We are the first and most authentic Turkish restaurant in Houston. Our charming little restaurant at the heart of rice Village has been part of the community for over 15 years. All these years we have stayed true to our belief that a good food must be made from the heart with passion. Every day starting at dawn our kitchen starts to prepare every single item on the menu from scratch with authentic spices and ingredients, whether it's our famous brick oven bread or our award winning rice puddings. The key to our success has always been our commitment to integrity of our recipes to maintain our constant high quality standards.

The food was good. It was not as good as the "Pita Paradise" Mediterranean food we have on Maui. There is something special about Pita Paradise. However, there are many restaurants in the area of Istanbul Grill, and I would choose it again.

Our Turkish colleagues found this place on the internet and we came in a group of 14. Service was excellent and food was very good. I thought the mixed grill had a couple meat items that was rather dry but the lamb chop was just delicious. The area is vibrant in the university district as well. Highly recommended.

I and my husband had an assorted appetizer and sandwiches. Everything tasted so simple and good. We also ordered housewine. The bill came up under $40, which I tought expectionally reasonable. We did not know we could double park at their parking lot (you just need to let your server know), so we had hard time finding a parking spot (there is a parking garage accross the street too... but we were trying to find a street parking spot.) Servers were attentive and service was good. I would love to try other dishes next time.

Great first experience with Turkish food. Not that dissimilar from the food at Fadi's (enjoyed it more than Fadi's, for sure) and Byblos, but different enough that it was a new experience. Great service from our server, Gokce, who did an excellent job explaining different dishes including a traditional Turkish pizza that doesn't have cheese. We tried an appetizer sampler plate (Meze Tabagi) that mostly included a variety of spreads for a very tasty bread including humus, tabouli, ezme (minced tomatoes and onions with olive oil, lemon juice and red pepper) labni (a yogurt-based sauce with walnuts), and an eggplant sauce. There were also servings of green beans, leeks marinated in olive oil, and a serving a stuffed grape leaves. It was big enough for four people. For a main course, tried Doner Kebab, a Turkish favorite, which was shredded beef and lamb (mildly spiced) on a bed of rice. Delicious and tender. We will definitely go again although we will carpool. Istanbul Grill minimizes the cramped parking situation by allowing double-parking if you let them know your parking situation and even moving cars around for you, but it'll be simpler just to bring one vehicle. Very casual environment (paper napkins, laminated menu), not romantic or an "event" restaurant, but a great place for family or friends. Affordable and definitely worth trying.

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon so we sat on the patio and loved the food, which was not only delicious but also quite healthy. Great atmosphere, too!
