America is renowned for it's cheap food (not too much of that in Houston though) but my goodness, I was blown away with this place.

We stumbled upon it at 3pm on a weekday and it was absolutely packed!!! And I can see why. We were having dinner that night, so opted for coffee and a slice of carrot cake to share. I am so glad we didn't ask for one each. It was 12 x 12 x 12 inches, with about 12 layers of cream. I honestly couldn't believe it. I was enough for 8 people, and only $6.95!!! That is value and a half, and then some.

Looking around at the other diners' meals made my eyes water. The lasagne (which looked like meatloaf) was gigantic. So much, that I can't believe the woman eating it managed half. It was 8 times bigger than a portion in the UK. The burgers looked really juicy and the colossal salads were enough for a football team to share. All the mains are about $9, but this place doesn't feel cheap, it has a lovely feel and the diners were all very well-to-do.

If I lived next door I wouldn't bother cooking at home, it's just too cheap and too good. Add in the great, friendly service and the dog-friendly nature, I actually can't believe there wasn't a queue around the block.

Ordered the lebanese chicken fattoush salad and didn't want the chicken. Too bad, we don't adjust prices for things that are taken off. Okay, I could see this if I asked to remove the pita chips .. but I didn't want the huge chicken breast that come cut up on the salad!

Oh, but you can have a cookie or a rice crispy treat .. ahh, no thanks . interested in eating healthy .. Thank You. Well, except for an apology and a sincere display of guilt . I was going to be paying for air. I opted to let Barnaby's keep their salad and the chicken .. I went over to Whole Foods and built my own wonderfully nutritious salad!

I have to admit, I eat here all the time. The reasons: Its healthy, its cheap, its good and the people are super cool. Originally, this place was created for gays. Its not that way any more. Its just as appealing to we heteros also. In fact, it doesnt seem gay at all. ...Not that theres anything wrong with that! They have an outdoor area that is pleasant and where they allow dogs! The bathrooms are really disgusting but, otherwise, this place is awesome. The chocolate chip cookies are also worth having with your "cheat" meal! Enjoy this place. Its great.

Barnaby's is just great. They have huge, fresh, delicious salads (try the Lebanese Chicken Fattoush salad). The kids will like this place because the mascot is a shaggy dog named Barnaby! Desserts are also really yummy. If you're looking for something meaty, try one of their hamburgers (I think the Spinach and Feta burger is unreal).

Weekend brunch at barnaby's is really tasty too... great spot!
