This past Sunday morning, my family and I visited Empire Cafe for Breakfast. The restaurant is not that big and it was very crowded. The way the restaurant is set up, there is no wait staff service at the restaurant. My advice is grab a menu on the way in and find a table (or look for someone who is almost finished) and stay in the area to claim you spot. After securing your location, look over the menu. It is filled with very tasty dishes with a TexMex twist. You order your food by going up to the counter. They do have a bar if you desire. After ordering your food, grap a coffee (excellent coffee by the way) and go to your table. They will give you a sign with your number. Don't expect to wait to long for your food though.... despite how busy the restaurant was, we got ours very quickly. I had the El Migas (eggs, chorizo, tomatoes) (Excellent!!!!) My wife enjoyed the Roma (which is eggs served over focaccia bread) which didn't stand a chance. My oldest had a Patria Omelet (Done perfectly) while my yougest enjoyed the pancakes. Although we were unfortunate to have found the table next to the coffee stand, it wasn't too bad. This place is definitely worth the squeeze and your time.

On the trendy, hipster side of things but the food is still quite good. It's especially nice when the Houston weather coorperates & you can sit outside.

I love the food at Empire, but something about the place is lacking. I'm not sure that the place gives off the vibes that it intends to. The outdoor seating is great, and like I said -- the food is spectacular!

Family went in this funky looking place while driving around Westheimer area yesterday. The coffee was tasty...some from Peru and a good decaf. We ate the stuffed pasta and it was wonderful. the sauce on the pasta [white sauce] was a mellow flavor. They even give you little madeleine cookies with your coffee. The service was good, fast and free WIFI. Outside patio covered with vines and potted plants keep the traffic noise out. One of the more pleasant finds in Houston.

Good food. Had the pasta and was surprised at how good it was. Also had iced coffee which was great. A bit loud and chaotic but what do you expect with a coffee shop?
