Booked this restaurant for my wife's birthday celebration. WE had a table in the back room, 10 people. The service was excellent and the food all arrived together and hot. That is no small feat when serving a large group. The service was quick, attentive, but not hovering. Perfect. The price was not bad for that number of people. I can highly recommend this restaurant.

a limited menu but plenty of choices. Both pates on the appetizer menu were exceptional, the halibut with sweet sauce was well prepared but a rather odd combination a puree of yellow squash I think. It is a bit noisy, but has a fun upbeat atmosphere. The service was very nice, the wine menu was well chosen. I would certainly return as the food was very good, The addition of valet is a godsend as parking before was very difficult. The restaurant is handsome in décor; understated but quite elegant in its style.

Etoile has a great sense of traditional French cuisine, that it keeps new with a classic menu and a seasonal menu. If you want a sampling of different items, the four-course charity dinner can be a way to go. When we were there, they offered a bison ribeye special that was both unusual and excellent. As you would expect from a traditional French restaurant, saving room for dessert is completely worth it. The atmosphere is also excellent, with a cozy layout that separates the space into different areas, giving each area a more intimate feel of a small restaurant. The serving staff are excellent. Definitely worth it for a night out.

We were most fortunate to dine at Etoile last night. It is not often that one wakens in the morning, still thinking about the delicious flavors tasted the night before and plotting how soon he can return. Such was the case with Etoile. Service was exceptional- helpfully informative without being overbearing. We had the tasting menu , allowing us to sample 8 dishes between the two of us. Again, I have not been to any restaurant recently where every dish was a hit. The Lobster risotto had a vibrant and fresh from the sea flavor that is difficult to capture when the lobster flavor is so intense. Minor criticism is I like my risotto fully cooked and it was a bit al dente. The dish was packed with chunks of lobster coated in delicious, rich and flavorful sauce. The halibut was perfectly cooked, sitting atop a vegetable puree. I do not want to mix up purees, as they accompanied each protein dish and were each unique, delicious and silky smooth. They accented the protein without being overbearing (although I think I could eat a bowl of the eggplant puree). What I also liked about the purees as they substituted for traditional cream based sauces, adding flavor without the heaviness of the cream. The lamb chops were delicious, as was the duck. Finally, the two desserts were also hits - the pistachio napoleon tasted like pistachio flavored crème brulee while the warm chocolate cookie with a molten chocolate center was decadently rich. Overall, the dinner was extraordinary and we are lucky to have such an accomplished chef serving the Houston area. I cannot wait to taste this chefs other creations.

The menu at Etoile has changed, so we decided to try some of the new dishes. We started with mussels "Saint Jean de Luz", with chorizo, leeks and pimento. A truly delicious dish that comes in appetizer adn main dish portions. The traditional escargot Bourgignonne were perfectly prepared and presented, along with freshly baked bread. The Blanquette de Veau (braised veal shoulder), a classical bistro dish from France, was a great new addition. The veal was tender, and juicy, while the creamy sauce was absolutely delicious! The catch of the day was halibut, expertly prepared to the perfect point and served with seasonal vegetables. We shared the Crepes Souffle "Suzette", a crepe stuffed with Grand Marnier custard and with a blood orange sorbet on the side. A creative variation on Crepes Suzettes and a dleight for the palate.
