I actually did a search for good bbq in Houston on Yelp.com, which yielded Gatlin's BBQ. The reviewers raved about the little shack's beef brisket, but they were out of it when I stopped by. Everyone was disappointed because they were out of the brisket and a few other favorites. But the pulled pork sandwich and BBQ beans I ordered, along with lemonade, hit the spot after trail riding that morning. A big sandwich on a fluffy bun with a side of pickles, hot peppers and onions, were more than I could take down. I ended up eating just the meat after a while. There is very little seating inside, so I sat outside on the picnic tables, under cover, while a big fan shoo'd away the flies. I took my banana pudding to go! Too full! The spot is tucked away in a hard to find spot in an old neighborhood. Use your GPS and go anyway.
