Description: Catherine Duwez returns with a cozy and romantic neighborhood Belgian Bistro. Enjoy Belgian favorites such as Moules Mariniere, Filet Poivre, Salmon Bearnaise, Carbonade, and of course the Fries! Both lunch and brunch feature three-course Prix Fixe options along with the full menu. And it all tastes best with Houston's largest selection of Belgian beers on tap as well as a huge selection of Belgian beers by the bottle. Sample well-known favorites such as Stella Artois and Hoegaarden; Chimay Blanche, Red and Blue; Westmalle Dubbel and Tripel; Maredsous 8 & 10; St. Feuillen, Rochefort, Orval, Duvel, Estiminet, St. Bernadus ABT 12, Leffe, Blanche du Bruxelles, Kwak, Lindeman Frambois, Rodenbach and Palm. Other beers available seasonally.

The best frites in town! Also wonderful moules (mussels), carbonnade flamande, and many other wonderful traditional Belgian dishes. Their chicken cordon bleu is also fabulous. Top it off with Belgian beer (many wonderful choices) and you've got a great meal!! The atmosphere is nice. I still like Catherine's first restaurant the best (Cafe Montrose), but this is a far cry nicer than her last location (Broken Spoke). What a gem for Houston!

“Yum”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

I visited Cafe Brussels with some friends as part of our monthly Sunday brunch outing. I really enjoyed the food. I had the ham and cheese omelette with fries and a salad. It was all very tasty. Parking is convenient. They have their own parking lot in the back. Prices are fair and reasonable. They need to work on their customer service. The service wasn't bad, but there were a lot of mistakes. I asked for tomatoes on my omelette and they forgot to put it on there. There were also mistakes with our tickets. We had to make sure they were charging us correctly and it took a long time to get the check. Other than that, it is a charming little place. Houston has some of the best little cafes.

“Food, service, & atmosphere remain high quality time after time!”

Cafe Brussels & owner Catherine are a pleasure! Quaint dining is always in store here. Every dish we've ever had was amazing - we've eaten here many times, & will continue to do so. From their lunch specials to their home-made French fries (which you simply have got to try) it's all so fresh & mouth watering. Try something from the bar - if you need suggestions, just ask the helpful staff or the knowledgeable Catherine. You've got to try this, or go again soon!

“Better food than service”
Reviewed May 28, 2013 via mobile

This was our first time at the "new location". The restaurant had a nice European feel to it and had Belgian pop music piped in. The mussels were as good as ever. The one surprise with the food was not seeing the ribeye on the menu. However, the beef tenderloin did prove to be a nice upgrade. We also shared the chicken cordon bleu and croquettes, which proved to be more than enough for a meal and was a nice treat the next day. We finished the meal with crepes with Belgian chocolate. These were wonderful and paired with their coffee made the whole meal a wonderful treat.

However, we found the service to be subpar. Given that it's Houston, we understand that there can occasionally be a language barrier with the servers. But in this case, it was very frustrating. It was also frustrating to need our server and see her sitting the bar. And there were delays in having anyone stop by when we needed something, even though it was not crowded. The one upside was to see the owner as attentive as ever and she also makes everyone feel very welcome.

We will definitely go back and would recommend this restaurant to everyone. But we also hope they get their service issues resolved.

“Best Belgian food/drinks in Houston”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

Catherine Duwez' second place near Washington is fantastic (she moved from her original location). As soon as you walk in you get the feeling of a quaint French/Belgian cafe. The decor and ambiance is a great way to set you up for a tremendous meal. Her selection of Belgian beers is fantastic. I almost always get a Duvel but you can't go wrong with anything she has. My family hails from this area in Europe so alot of her offerings are familiar to me (or at least distant cousins). I cannot recommend her Carbonades a la Flamande enough. Beef stew made with Chimay? Yes please. You have to come hungry because you always get a great amount of food and will definitely leave full.
