One of the few areas by Embassy Suites open for food on the weekend. Large assortment of food, deli case, dessert case, unique store. Would love to have gone back and spend some time.
Apx 2 blocks from the hotel.

DO NOT MISS THE PHOENICIA. Just 2 blocks from the convention center- great food- great baked goods, great cheeses, great deli, great bread. This is not your mama's grocery store- it is a restaurant, liquor store, gourmet shop, deli, and food lover's heaven. The restaurant has a nightly special- huge steak for $10.
I loved the deli and bakery, too. OH BOY- do not miss this place. Falafel, gyro, shwarma, salads, cheeses, pastas, oh my. I want to go to there again and again and again.

So cool to find this place directly across the street from our hotel.. Loved exploring the market area and purchased several things to take home: roasted almonds still in the shell and an assortment of exotic candies for the kids. After drooling over all the cooked items behind the counter, settled on a quick takeout meal from their unbelievable salad bar with excellent homemade dressings and a ready made sandwich which my husband said was phenomenal. Really wish we had this place in my hometown. What a boon for the city of Houston. If you love ethnic markets, this gourmet middle eastern grocery cafe is nirvana!
