Dinner of a Friday night was a big diasppontment. It was crowded and we waited a short time for a table. Bread was brought to the table faily quickly but that was last service for almost an hour. It was clear there was not enough wait staff. I ordered an omeltte and had hoped to have a crepe for dessert. But it took almost as long to get the entree as for them to take the order -- so we just ran out of time for dessert. The omelette was okay -- nothing exceptional. I would not go back unless their staffing improves.

We took a friend to dinner on a Friday evening. We did not have reservations and had a short 10 minute wait at the bar which was fine. Once seated it took another 15 minutes for our order to be taken after we were served bread and butter. The small bistro was packed with guests so I assumed it was a great place to eat. Our waitress was slow and showed no interest whatsoever in our care. The meals were not out of the ordinary and portions were average. We were never offered dessert and had to raise our hands to get the attention of staff for our check. Perhaps they do a better job on other nights but we were very disappointed with our evening out. Dinner with two glasses (total) of wine came to $84. It was certainly not worth the price. We would not go back.

I apologize for the poor service. We are short on waitstaff at the moment, and trying to rectify that issue. Sorry to hear that you didn't think that our offerings were a good value. We feel that we are quite competitively priced as far as Houston's market is concerned. We strive to serve an excellent product on a daily basis, and use high quality ingredients regularly. We're sorry to hear that you won't be trying us again, and we do appreciate your taking time to write a review, even if it's not what we like to hear.

3 of my friends and I have been eating at Jeannine's ever since they opened in 09 and we've never been disappointed with the food or service. The owners are so sweet & the staff do a great job all the time. They all help each other and are always on top of things. I think the last review was written by an extremely rude person because Jeannine, the owner is very sweet & by the way, she's American not Belgian, therefore she speaks perfectly good ENGLISH! The staff also all speak ENGLISH! Sonia is a Belgian waitress there, and yes, she is Flemish & proud of it. She obviously is not the owner because if anyone asks for the owner, the staff will send Jeannine over to the table. I've never known Sonia to be complacent, arrogant, or obnoxious & neither have any of the friends i've brought there. People who are so biased should not bother posting reviews because it's so obvious it stands out like a sore thumb. If you don't like the food, then you can state that & that's fine & acceptable but to personally attack & insult the owner & employees is not. Have some class!

We were invited as guests of long time patrons of this restaurant during our recent stay in Houston. I can quite honestly tell you this was the most dissapointing eating experience I can recall. Not only were 6 out of the 7 meals ordered - delivered to our table incorrectly, but the inadequate staff were unable to even correct the mistakes! We ended up just accepting incorrect orders in order the shorten the experience. The waiting Staff didn't speak our language, English! - and the owner was totally complacent and arrogant and obnoxious (assume from Dutch side of Belgium). Our hosts (2) had mussels, both in curry sauce which was disgusting; 3 orders of the fillet mignon were way over-cooked and burnt and with a poor (incorrect) selection of vedgetables. 2 fish dishes on the menu were unnavailable and the substitutes ordered were incorrect. The wine was ok - but the soft drinks were mixed with incorrect levels of syrup. strangely enough, we didn't have either coffees or deserts! I felt truly sorry for our friends who had been eating at the restaurant for some years and who were quite embarassed. Conclusion - food, drinks, service to an extremely low level and with no efforts to correct any mistakes or apologise for such a desperate experience - give this place a big swerve!

We've known about the high quality of food since their days at old Westheimer location.

This location is charming also, just at edge of the Historic Avondale District. It was a cold dreary day but inside is cozy and welcoming. The noise level is low and the crowd seems casual and upbeat. We dined early, the bread basket was warm and tender. We ordered the large steamed mussels (just white wine, celery and onions) to share plus a veggie plate. The creamed spinach and purple cabbage are the best in Houston, the Brussel sprouts will make you discount everything you've ever heard about Brussel sprouts---they were yummy! The cylinder cut potatoes needed a bit more seasoning. Also ordered were monk fish, very tender and flakey with subtle flavors and the salmon-- a rich sauce to die for. I found myself dipping my bread in the mussel broth---it was sublime . All the portions are huge, the waitstaff attentive.

We celebrated on a Thursday, and around 7pm a charming older gentlemen sat down and played familiar French songs on an accordian. The effect went beyond charming. The crowd seemed equally mixed with young and older couples.
