A really nice butterfly exhibit. We previously visited one in Key West and this one is slightly better but both area great. Take your time and relax and watch beauty.

Wow! What a fun and interactive place for kids, students, and even adults. It was nice because you can just buy a ticket for the butterfly center which normally runs 9$, but they offer many discounts including AAA which made it only 6$. There is both an interactive section(s) before and after the man conservatory area with all the butterflies. Both offer a wide variety of information, things to see, touch, feel, etc. But the real treat is the actual butterfly/plant area. Hundreds of butterflies fill the air and plants alike making you feel like you are in a wonderland. There a multiple levels to walk along to see everything from all angles and heights. There are also docents walking around able to answer questions, offer butterfly guides, help find certain butterflies. If you are into plants, they also label many of them which was a nice touch. One thing I will say to not miss was the butterfly release which happens every Tuesday at 10:30. I watched from below since the release on the balcony, but if you want to hear more information about the release, I suggest standing on the balcony to watch. They also have many butterflies with stickers on their wings, which if you catch a picture, make sure to post it to instagram with a hashtag #cbcstudy. The center is doing a longevity study in order to chart how long the butterflies are living. Great way to keep yourself busy trying to find a sticker butterfly!

As others have said, this attraction can be pricey if you have a whole family. But, take your student, military, or senior citizen ID for a large discount. My college daughter ended up getting a full membership and we "tagged" on her fee for much less than it would have been for three adult tickets to the museum and butterfly center.

The butterfly center at the Houston Natural Science Museum is absolutely beautiful. It's a lovely enclosed dome with plants and a waterfall - and the butterflies are free to circulate amongst the visitors. There are literally hundreds of them in the most beautiful colors. Grab an identification chart on the way in and see how many you can find. Also, look for the butterflies with numbers and post them on Instagram with #cbcstudy. You can read up on this study on signs in the center. We found several with numbers and didn't even try. In addition to the butterfly dome, the exhibit on the life and varieties of insects and butterflies was really good. We spent nearly an hour just going through and reading all the information. It was a great way to spend a Saturday during the HOT Houston summer.

Beautiful, educational experience for adults and children, lots of different plants, butterflies in a giant aviary. The "bug" exhibit is excellent and also a chrysalis for viewing the butterflies as they are hatching.

This is a great attraction with tons of different butterflies and plants kept at their most optimum temperature. The center is well taken care of and there are tons of signs providing explanations about the lives of these beautiful creatures and their magnificent habitats. Highly recommended to anyone.
