I've kept season tickets for years and am always thrilled to attend each performance. First class in all regards.

Rice students get one specific free concert attendance to Houston Symphony every semester, and this is the one event that I will never miss.

Expect a top-notch, world-class performance from this spectacular group! Every performance season, Houston Symphony hosts many events, which are not limited to your traditional classical music performances. The Symphony will occasionally bring in musical celebrities like Joshua Bell and do special performances such as movie screening with live orchestra and jazz classics.

If you are in town even for a bit, allocate a night to hear the Houston Symphony! The performance venue, Jones Hall, is only a few blocks away from the nearest light rail station and has ample parking underground.

The symphony has not been good for years, they seem afraid to attack notes, unenthusiastic tones, but good for a bedroom community and yuppies who like to say they went to a symphony.

Selections of works to be performed for both the Classical and POPS series, whether familiar or "non-standard" are almost always crowd pleasers, and are consistently very well performed. The "Very Merry POPS" concert in December is, year-after-year, one of the most joyful and memorable events of the season.

About 5 years ago, the Symphony offered special pricing on tickets that was too good to pass up. We bought a mini season package and have since relished in the sounds and the emotions invoked by our experiences at the symphony. We are now full season ticket holders and love the regular opportunities to dress up, feel elegant, and delight in the culture during the Symphonic spectaculars.

The Symphony offers several listening experiences including Classical, Pops, and Family. Check out the website to tailor their offering to your musical preferences. The Summer Concert Series offers a more relaxed and approachable Symphonic connection. Conductor Michael Krajewski will make you laugh while educating you about the piece the Symphony is about to play.

Do yourself a favor, buy tickets to a concert or two – you will thank me later.
