This place is huge and many things to do and see for kids.
Inside of the museum, library has interactive story time (perform in both English and Spanish) and occasionally they give books away to kids

Here are tips:
Plan to visit: Weekdays are better and less crowded. Free admission (both kids and adults) on every Thursday evenings from 5 to 8 pm.
Parking: There are paid parking spaces (covered) and also public street parking (paid).
During hot day, bring extra clothes for your kids as the museum has water playground.
Although you can buy food there, it will be good to bring food since you might end up spending long time there.

I'm not a kid but I sure felt like one at the Children's Museum. What a vibrant, exciting place it must be to a young child. There is so much to discover, explore, and experiment with. I don't want to trot out the whole, "they make learning fun!" thing, but... if this place doesn't get a kid interested in science, I don't think anything well. They can observe air pressure by blasting balls through giant tubes. They can practice physics with paper airplanes shot through a cannon. They can build cars and maybe even small robots.

Anyone with a younger kid should make it here at least once.

My four year old daughter had a great time. She had plenty of things to explore and thoroughly enjoyed herself. Only downfall is that we went later in the afternoon on a Saturday and it was a little messy in certain areas.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Happy your daughter had a great time! We are so sorry to hear certain areas weren't organized. Could you share which exhibit or area you are referring to so we can address it?

I have attended several events for environmental groups at the Children's Museum during operation hours and it is a terrific place to have hands-on fun and education for the kids. They have done an excellent job at putting it all together and I recommend it for anyone visiting Houston. If you don't have kids, there are some great ideas for you to take home to your own museum community.

We took our toddler and he loved it. Older children can experience more ch more, but our little guy found it fun. Lots and lots of interactive exhibits. Fun sites like a grocery store, Greek diner, and vet clinic. There is plenty for everybody. Even a restaurant for a meal or snack. The best kids’ museum I have ever been to.
