A cozy feel from the moment you walk through the doors, past the fire place to check in and up to your room. Special perks like daily happy hours, free wi-fi, milk and cookies at bedtime are just little things that make the stay count! Service and location are top notch!

Beds are very comfortable, very tasty breakfast and all of our guests enjoyed themselves. Great location in downtown Houston with plenty of access to local bars and nightlife. I will definitely stay there again!!!!!

On our first night, the hotel seemed exclusive, calm, quiet, and very private. We thought we found a hidden gem that no one else knew about. Check-in went smoothly and the atmosphere was peaceful and serene. We loved our room on the 21st floor, and felt like royalty.
But on Saturday, everything changed, totally and unexpectedly, in a very bad way. There was a wedding reception that afternoon and a high school dance that evening. The outside entryway and lobby/elevator area were crowded and rowdy with high schoolers. The club and bar were noisy and busy with wedding folks. The elevator took forever and when it finally got to our floor (remember we were on 21), it was so full the doors wouldn't close and two couples had to get out and walk down twenty-one flights!
Parking was awful. Instead of valet, we chose to self-park, and would have considered valet if the price was included in the full stay. Each night the garage became more and more full. We started on the third level and by Sunday, we were up on the sixth.
Sunday checkout took too long. Would have done the express checkout but needed to remove an incorrect charge from bill. We stood in line in the crowded, noisy lobby for 10-15 minutes with other guests checking in and out and waiting for valet. At that point, our decision to self-park became a brilliant choice.
Overall, we did have a great time. The busy-rowdy atmosphere seemed totally out of place for such an elegant hotel. The fitness center and roof-top pool were wonderful and it was refreshing to be able to continue our workouts away from home. The complementary breakfast and beer and wine reception were elegant and excellently done. And the bedtime cookies and milk buffet was a perfect end of day treat! The online photos are a beautiful representation of what you will see. If we could know for sure the experience we had this trip would not be repeated, we would consider staying here again, just not during prom or wedding season.

Rooms and location were very good. They have an open concept bar on the second floor and meeting rooms on the third floor. What was strange, was they had loud annoying music playing in reception and on 2nd and 3rd floors. To talk on a cell you were practically forced outside.

Close by are fantastic restaurants and their service is excellent - maybe outside of the Christmas season they turn the music down.

We stayed at the Magnolia Houston, and I noticed that things were a little "down at the heels" as I waited in line at check-in. There was only one staff person, and a line of 6 people on a Friday night. We were then dismayed at the long checklist they had us initial: for example, they had me acknowledge that there is a sensor in their minibars so that if you touch anything, you are charged. Are they serious? What kind of kleptomaniacs stay here? They also informed us with a hand-out that elevators are often slow because of all the wedding guests they have on the weekends. The room and the public areas felt in need of thorough cleaning. Our bedspread was crooked on our bed, and finally, we found a stir stick in our covers. So much for our romantic weekend. We are moving tomorrow!

Stayed in Houston with my 5-year old daughter for a visit with family. The rooms were large and comfy. Enjoyed the roof-top pool, fitness room, and downtown location. The staff was outstanding - very friendly and helpful.
