The experience at Uchi was top notch.

The wagyu beef hot rock was very good as was the scallop hot rock. The uchi salad is on the
small side but very tasty.

Service was very good too.

Prices are high but the quality is worth every penny.

Those who think Uchi is world class need to get out of Houston more. Yes the ingredients are quite good and there is considerably creativity to some of the dishes, but this is hardly an excellent restaurant. Those who think the wagyu on hot rocks was outstanding should realize it is far better when sliced thinner as it is at better establishments. Some of the other dishes like pork weren't trimmed nearly as well as it could have been. And the wine selection was fairly pedestrian. They should either up their game (my preference) or lower their prices. But i wouldnt go back. (And someone should tell the hostess that wearing a men's denim shirt as a dress is not attractive attire)

This restaurant is excellent and in the class it is competing in world wide, it is an outstanding value. It is expensive (as noted in many reviews), but the type of sushi dish being served is not just slices of beautiful fish on rice. It is the type served at world famous restaurants such as Nobu and Morimoto's. Each dish involves complex spicing and presentations intended to enhance the fish and wow the palate. The food at Uchi is not as complex or jaw dropping as the very best dishes at the more famous institutions; but the food at Uchi is delicious, inventive and nicely presented. We had the 6 course tasting plus an additional dish of our choosing and spent less than $50 per person. For regular sushi this would be very expensive, but for the type of dishes we ate, it is quite reasonable (the tasting menu's at Nobu in Dallas, for example, start at $65 a head and go up from there). I highly recommend Uchi. People who already know they love this type of food will be pleased with the food and the value; and for people who want to try this type of high end sushi for the first time, this is a great restaurant to try without raiding your children's college fund.

The restaurant definitely gives a hipster vibe which reminded me of Austin. I had reservations but still waited Accor 30 minutes to be seated which wad the only downside. We did the tasting menu of 6 courses and really enjoyed them. Ambience was very lively so more social scene than romantic. I are definitely returning :)

Very neat concept. Great build out. Enthusiastic staff. Great food, albeit portions are on small side. I learned belatedly: pricing on non-happy hour can be brutal. To boot, my party did the 7 course tasting menu. Lots of drinks as well. I think we ended up close to $100/person, all in with tip.
