This place has over 100 handcrafted, unique cocktails. Specializes in gin, scotch, bourbon that sort. We had 2 drinks and the bill was 20.00. Good atmosphere though and the drinks were delicious.

For a bar that serves some very high end whisky (like Single Barrel Eagle Rare, Blanton's, Whistle Pig), you'd think that the roof wouldn't leak right onto the middle of the actual bar.

My wife and I were there on a rainy Saturday afternoon, so it wasn't too busy. The bar itself is nice. Its clean, big windows, and excellent spirit selection. The bottles are well-organized and easy to see. I would've rated this place 4 Stars, except for the big dish tub sitting in the middle of the bar gathering water. You'd think they'd have a more elegant solution.

Our bartender took our order (one Single Barrel Eagle Rare) then we ordered two more drinks. After that, the bartender went to a different part of the bar, never coming back. The other 2 or 3 bartenders never asked if we needed another drink or anything. We had to flag them down just to settle the check.

I think they over-shake their drinks, watering them down. The average shake time is a slow 10-count. Maybe 30 seconds for some drinks that don't mix well, like ones with egg.

Maybe this is the best bar in Houston, so it warrants "5 Star Bar for Houston," but compared to other cities, the facilities, mixology, and staff are lacking.

Anvil is the best place in Houston to go for a drink. They get everything right. The drinks are well prepared by people who know their craft. They don't try to do too much, they just get it right. Try the pliny's tonic, one of the most interesting drinks you'll probably ever have. This place can go toe to toe with any of the good New York speakeasies and bars. It's that good

If you go on a busy night, get ready to work hard to get to the bar and wait for your drinks. The wait is worth it. The drinks are good, the people are fun to watch and some are very easy on the eyes. It is often standing room only and it is a smaller place, but its all fun.

This is not the bar for a traditional vodka tonic. If you come here you have to experience the specialties on the menu. It's a different place, for original drinks! I like it.
