“Italian Comfort Food”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

Great little Italian restaurant. Comfort food at its best. Noisy inside but quiet and comfortable outside patio. Friendly service and helpful advice on menu choices. As you can tell by our name, we know Italian food and this was excellent. Good size portions, but you can get half sizes and then get a choice of two, as we did.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

We went here because of the Houston Chronicle's food critic review rating this the 17th best restaurant in Houston. Boy is she way off! The decor is modest and the place is extremely noisy on Saturday night. We started with the cheese plate which was fine (hard to mess up a cheese plate). The entrees ranged from pedestrian to good, but none were very good. The bolognese sauce mentioned in the review was very ordinary, but the homemade pasta was good. We tried 2 wines that night, both were well priced but lacked any real flavor (you sometimes get what you pay for). The service was very good, despite the electricity going off, which I realize is beyond the management;s control. We really feel no need to go back and try something else because of the so-so experience.

“Neighborhood Restaurant, great food & service”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

We live in Houston, and this is our neighborhood restaurant of choice. Always delicious, always friendly. The small bites are worth a visit-I am especially fond of the scallop dish. The rapini veggie side is awesome. ALL of the pastas are delicious. Prices are extremely reasonable. This is an unpretentious yummy place where you can't go wrong.

“perfect little neighborhood restaurant”
Reviewed March 19, 2012

Not far from the mobs at The Galleria by distance, but a world away just down Westheimer is the perfect little neighborhood restaurant for a tranquil meal. We landed here by happenstance and are very glad we did. Concrete floors and well-worn tables & chairs give it a "favorite blanket" kind of feel. Giacomo's was peaceful, interesting and delicious, with an extensive wine list for a relatively small place. We had terrific tortellini and the best gnocchi with mushrooms this side of The Pond. Grilled veggies were tender crisp and colorful. Portions and prices are both reasonable, and while we didn't try it, the place offers tiny portion for tiny prices so you can try lots of dishes.
Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable. The patio in front was charming, but the constant traffic led us to sit inside. Free parking available in front & back.
If we get back to Houston, we'll definitely return. Thanks for a nice evening, Giacomo's!

“Great place for wine and food"”
Reviewed January 12, 2012

Friendly service, great wine list. The fondue is more of a dipping sauce on the side but good.
