The carpet was dirty, and the hotel smelled of many different kinds of food. This was not a pleasant smell. There were bugs in the bathroom sink that the hotel staff could not get rid of. I would have changed hotels if there had been one available.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. You are absolutely correct to expect a clean, well-maintained property as your home away from home, and we sincerely apologize for failing to provide that for you. We are taking steps to ensure every detail from the first impression at check-in to the final at check-out and will focus on providing a better experience for every guest entering our doors. We truly regret the inconvenience caused, and please give us another chance to provide you with the hospitality you deserve.

This hotel is located about .2 mile from the entrance to MDAnderson Cancer Center. It has a large parking lot with free parking and easy access. The rooms are suites with kitchens which make this property an ideal location and accommodation for MDAnderson patients who have short or long term appointments. However, there are many areas in need of improvements that could be made under good management. I have stayed here many times and have noticed a rise in rates and a decline in service and upkeep. The rooms are a little shabby, the stairwells are often very dirty, the breakfast offering is much poorer than it used to be. More often than not, there is no coffee in the early morning when everyone wants it, of course, and it takes the staff a very long time to bring out more. Most people can't wait for it since many of them have appointments to go to. Quite often, I discovered that the external doors, which say they require a room key for entry, were not locked. On the morning I was attempting to check out and make an 8 am appointment, no one was manning the front desk until about 7:10. On the three occasions I attempted to call the front desk, no one answered. There was a garbage room just down from my room that reeked. Used pots and dishes sat in the hallways for at least a day or two before being picked up by staff. I hope management will address some of these issues.

I don't know if the quality was poor due to the remodeling or if it is always this way but the things that were bad about the hotel were not due to remodeling alone. Staff was friendly enough but not overly helpful. They never answered the phone. The breakfast consisted of coffee, granola bars and pre-packaged muffins. None of the kitchens are stocked - you have to "check out" anything you want to use. Poor to little water pressure.

The window screens were hanging loose and windows were unlocked.
The back door was kept open by a rock and on further review found a piece of tape over lock to prevent door from locking and being secure. Reported to front office and nothing was done.
Before bedtime we removed rock and the tape on the door.

I was paying less than anything I found online, so I was expecting something sub par, but this hotel was much nicer than any other at the same price. I would say I got more than I paid for, and I didn't even have a discount. Comfortable beds, temperature of the room; good size shower, pretty much everything was a good size.
