Owner description: This downtown park offers free yoga classes, movie nights and toddler story times. The park has a playground, spray fountain and Mist Tree, great for hot Houston days. Enjoy free WiFi and open air reading rooms, or borrow balls or games.

Perfect afternoon hanging out on the greens, getting a bite to eat at the Lake House Restaurant, with great people watching. Plenty of families enjoying the fountains, people with their pets, and even a talk on Houston Architecture was well attended by people sprawled out on blankets with picnics. Just idyllic. Our 15 year old thought it was the coolest and we felt like we were able to get some great outdoor time after being inside the convention center for most of the day. There landscape and flowers were lovely and we wished we had more time to picnic ourselves. Definitely worth a stroll.

Right down town. Lots of green. People enjoying themselves. Just across from the George R. Brown Convention Center with good food a short walk away

We stayed at Hilton Americans and spent a lot of time walking around Discovery Green and playing on the play ground. Also we were there during Family day which was great - lots of free activities including bouncy houses which our 5 year old loved. As a visitor to Houston we felt really lucky to be able to share in the festivities.

Downsides - people who don't clean up after their dog. Bathrooms were in rough shape at the end of the day. Also a strange decision on the routing of sidewalks - you can't get from one side of the park to the other without walking right in front of the stage.

there is always something going on. There is a small pound/lake, kayak rental, water splash pad, and a lot of bunches to seat and enjoy the day.
