As we had to stop over in Houston for the night on our trip back to Canada we chose a cheap nearby hotel to the airport. There is a reason this hotel was only $70/ night. It is more of a motel than a hotel. The carpets and walls were stained. The TV remote was taped together. The toilet seat was broken. Some of the lights didn't work. Wouldn't recommend to others.
We flew in from Chicago and thought that this was a great deal to stay in for the night before leaving for our cruise. WRONG! We walked into our rooms and it smelled like old smoke, the rooms had black stuff in the corners and on the floor. My comforter had cigarette burns in them. I didn't want anything to touch the ground not even my one year old was allowed to walk on it. My brother's room had a huge pink stain in the middle between the beds. While we were discussing what to do we got hungry and thought lets go to the bus stop and hit up the mall the clerk told us about. NOT GOOD. This is in the ghetto, the cops are circling every 5 minutes you go through the projects and the mall we were told about was shut down and run down! We did not feel safe! There were twelve of us and out of us there were three children. We are from Chicago please don't think we aren't used to the city living. After three hours we found a place to stay. We checked out and the clerk was not very happy to see us leaving and we told him why. At the same time a party was about to start with a bunch of teens (glad we did not stay the night). We called the hotel to see about a refund and he told us he had to clean the rooms because we were there for three hours and who knows what we did to his rooms. No offense to him, but the only damage we could have done was steam clean his carpets and air out the must. Don't stay here!
We ended up at the Double Tree worth every penny and even got a discount, free cookie at check in and free breakfast(when you check into foursquare). They also offer a free shuttle they gave us great service!
