We stayed at HOJO-IAH as we were in Houston for 4 nights before flying again so the location was right for us. The front staff were absolutely fantastic - very helpful and very nice, the room itself was in well kept shape, the beds were great to sleep in and housekeeping were good with changing the sheets, towels & soaps/products. It was somewhat humid with the Texas weather but the air conditioner worked perfectly and cooled the room very quickly and kept it that way.
The bathroom was clean, hair dryer worked fine and the shower itself was also clean and in good condition - though the plug in the shower did like to close itself (which was easily fixed by propping it open with the lid of the conditioner.. no big deal).
The bus stop down the road made getting anywhere no problem, the ~45 minute bus ride into downtown wasn't any big deal for $2 since the 102 bus ran every 30 minutes or so, picking us up across the road and down a little from the Foodmart and also dropped us back at the same intersection (front desk also copied their bus timetable for us free). And lastly the free airport shuttle was right on time at 5am, and the driver we had was nice & helped us with our bags.
Waited 45 minutes for the shuttle. By the time we got there the restaurant was closed. Neighborhood was scarey and there were no restaurants in walking distance. Room was dirty. Grounds unkempt. Front desk was friendly. Breakfast ok. we didn't sleep.
