Peli Peli is located at Vintage Park, a 100,000 square foot upscale lifestyle center that serves the communities in Northwest Houston (Hwy 249 & Louetta). Guests are invited to dine under Peli Peli's 30-foot tall, one-of-a-kind Acacia Tree and illuminated sky which creates an atmosphere perfect for romantic dinners and special occasions. Peli Peli also features avant-garde architecture, a spacious dining area, a Sunday brunch, full bar & lounge, a cozy, private dining room and an outdoor patio facing the Piazza. Fantastic food! South African flavors. The chicken curry and sea bass are our favorites. I am a HUGE fish eater and have never had my fish overcooked here; it's always done to perfection. We've taken guests here numerous times and have always been thrilled with the food and service. The restaurant is a little pricey but we've always felt that it is justified. I recommend Sunday brunch. The biggest downfall is that the acoustics are horrible. The decor is nice but it can get very loud at times. No children's menu but my children love the bread on the appetizer list, the lamb, and the chicken curry.

We were able to secure a table in the back corner of the restaurant which afforded us a quiet dinner with a view of everything happening in the restaurant. Our waitress was wonderful, very knowledgeable and attentive. For the appetizer, we ordered the calamari which neither of us enjoyed. It was rubbery and lacked flavor. Our waitress quickly offered us a replacement and did not charge us for the calamari. We then ordered the bobotie which was a definite improvement. For dinner, we had the Flavors of South Africa and the Huguenot Filet. The filet melted in my mouth with great flavor. The Flavors dish allowed you to taste the meat cooked with several different sauces. It was also good. For dessert, we had a very moist cake which turned out to be a date cake topped with a toffee sauce. It was very good, a don't miss!!!

Located in Vintage Park in NW Houston, Peli Peli is a wonderful restaurant with South African cuisine. It's decorated beautifully and can be very romantic, if that is what you're looking for.
The owner, Chef Paul, is on the floor much of the time, so if it's your first time or there is a special occasion, he's likely to visit your table. Having been to South Africa and having friends from there, I can attest that this is quite authentic. The menu is updated on a regular basis, and although it's not a cheap restaurant, you get what you pay for. The service is also excellent.
Be sure to try the chicken livers... YUM!
