Prado exhibit and the newly opened Picasso exhibit show this museum's connections to merit these special exhibits. Wonderful permanent collection. Easily accessible and conveniently located.

Visited the exhibit of selected paintings on loan from the Prada. The exhibit exceeded my expectations in the number and size of the pieces on exhibit. Selected pieces gives the viewer a brief insight into the life of Spanish royalty, Catholicism, and art techniques that span the 14th, 15th, and 16th centuries. Still-lifes, landscapes, portraits, and religious icons make up the exhibit's collection. Allot a couple of hours to view the art of Spain alone.

This is the place to go in Houston to see art. It is a fine museum with a very good collection. Their special exhibits can be excellent and worth a trip even if you have been to the museum before.

The museum is very nice, great collection, but right now the have an exhibit of the Spain Portraits from the Prado Museum. They brought quite a bit of pieces and it is very well put together. I believe it ends in March. They also have a new Picasso exhibit :)

The MFAH holds it's own with the established 18th century traditions of Europe & the East Coast. This is not just a great regional institution; It's collection of Modernist works, esp. from S. America leads coastal museums endowments 10 times it's size! The curating, too, surpasses that of more prestigious traditional museums. A true urban gem!
