“Spiritual art”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

The Rothko Chapel was custom-designed for the large monochomatic artwork of Mark Rothko, who participated in the design. You won't find any paintings of any religious figures, but you will find a quiet and spiritual place in which you can project whatever spirituality you want in one of the most peaceful settings you'll ever find.

Several large Rothko paintings in atrium built to house the paintings. Unique space well-suited to meditation.

“are you kidding?”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

On a recent visit to Texas we visited many wonderful sites. This one was a joke. Are you kidding? Blank walls denoting the wonder of nothingness? Don't waste your time on this.

“Not to be missed”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

This is a place not to be missed when in Houston, and a person interested in late 20th Century this would be the place to start, then on to nearby de Menil Collection. Though one might not understand the paintings surrounding you eventually it will all become clear.

“Quiet place to reflect”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

A great place in the city to quiet your mind and center yourself. Has never been very crowded when I've gone there.
