“Hidden Gem in the Houston Arts District”

First off, if you aren't a fan of modern art- this probably won't be something you would enjoy. Even so, give it a shot. I enjoy Rothko's work and was very excited to see this "chapel". It is located in a residential area near the Houston Photography Center. Inside, the walls are covered with large scale paintings where there are benches and mats. I grabbed a pillow and went with the floor. It is really a beautiful experience. If you are a lover of modern art, this is a must. Admission is free and there is no photography allowed.

“Essential if you Like Rothko!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2012

If you don't like Rothko or modern art, probably this won't be your cup of tea. I love both, and really like it here. I've been twice, and it's just such a great space. The paintings are huge and displayed beautifully, and it's a great atmosphere to watch them. I really enjoyed watching the light change through the afternoon.

“Peaceful”

The chapel is a wonderful respite in a crowded city. I love the quiet, cool peacefulness. I wish I lived closer.....I would hide there often.
