“Great Afternoon Stop with Kids and Dogs”
Reviewed December 29, 2013

Little Bigs is always a solid stop for our family after running around for the morning with our 3 kids and sometimes even our dog. We can sit on the patio and watch the world go by and know that the carnivore (hamburger sliders) and vegetarian ( veggie sliders) will be super happy with our meals. The butterscotch milkshake can't be beat. Dreaming of it while I write. YUM.

“Great sliders and wine/beer”
Reviewed November 24, 2013

Bigs is an interesting place. Sliders and real quality wine and beer.

Sliders come in five flavors IIRC, beef, chicken, nathans hot dog, black bean and pulled pork. You usually order three and you can get whatever mix you want. Each is completely different so I would encourage a mix. I had beef, pork, and Nathan's. All three were excellent.

For those of you that are familiar with (the real) Nathans and (original) White Castle it is an interesting mix with a big quality boost in terms of food, service, and atmosphere. White Castle invented sliders (and supposedly given credit for being the first fast food restaurant) in 1921 and Nathans the really tasty hot dog in 1916. Bigs has taken it up quite a few notches, although there is nothing wrong with the original, when you can find it. The grocery store editions are not nearly as good, but the next best thing if you want to compare.

The wine list included Cakebread, Two Hands and similar at $8 for a HUGE pour. Bottles were priced very attractively, not much above retail. Beer included St. Arnold (2 types) on tap and several others that change constantly.

It was a cold night so we ate inside, but in good weather the outside is very pleasant and has more room.

“Mix of cultures”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

Little big's -smack in the middle of Houston's artistic/bohemian/gay area- has an interesting fusion of the American fast food culture with fine wining and dining. They serve essentially five types of small hamburgers, mysteriously called sliders, with hand cut self made fries (big boxes of potatoes casually stored with other supplies in the back of the very casual if even somewhat unkempt restaurant). Which can be combined with a choice of fine wines ready to go at the order counter. The trio of sliders is very good with high quality bread and unusual patties. The fries were very nice too. Seating is mostly outside in a very pleasant setting, although surrounded by parking lots (but where not in Houston ....).

“I used to love this place but....”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

I loved this place when they first opened. The fries were delicious. They served a cheese stuffed mushroom slider that was delicious. And the wine selection by the glass was great. Unfortunately things have changed a lot. I don't know what they did to the fries but they are not the same not even close. They are now mediocre at best. They have eliminated the cheese stuffed mushroom slider and replaced it with a mushy tasteless bean slider. The wine selection is still good and the by the glass price is a good value.

I still go to Little Bigs sometimes because I like sitting out on the deck on a nice day. But I no longer get excited about the food. It's just okay.

Great sliders & milk shakes ... I was riding around on my motorcycle Saturday afternoon looking for a great burger to eat out on a deck ... Found it at Little Bigs... Parked the bike under the big tress ... Parked myself with a great order of sliders ...
