I enjoyed attending a conference at the George R. Brown Convention Center in February 2014. It was easy locating meeting halls, restrooms, etc. In contrast to other conventions, the rooms seemed spacious and more accessible. It was very clean and well equipped. There is also a park in front of the convention center. The center's website noted free wi-fi in all public areas. That was not the case. It was $12 or $13 per day. There is a Starbucks on the 2nd floor and other places to eat nearby, such as if you walk straight ahead through the park, the Shops at Houston Center has a food court with an awesome variety of options (on the 2nd or 3rd floor).
