Three visits to this park were all great. Great trails for jogging. A beautiful reflecting pond and lake. A stunning statue of Sam Houston. The Japanese garden was peaceful and gorgeous, but pales to the one at home in St. Louis. It is a free attraction, though, and that is wonderful. Unfortunately, did not have time to check out the zoo. A very peaceful retreat from the Museum and Hospital Districts in Houston.

I was in Houston to support my family while they were at MD Anderson and Hermann Park is a quick walk away. With all the other things stirring inside your brain when you're in a hospital setting, there's nothing better than heading to the massive Hermann Park.

The wide tree-lined path that circles the park is pleasantly shaded and there are several sporadic shade trees to take cover under from the sun. There is a playground, Japanese Garden (very peaceful), pond with paddle boat rentals, a cafe, train ride, lots of picnic areas, and a water play area. Plus the golf course and Zoo, obviously.

It'd be easy to spend the day, or just an hour or so to take a walk. Hermann Park was a key part in my daily routine while in Houston for two weeks.

Excellent. Clean. The most beautiful Japanese gardens ever! Great for couples and families. This area could use more parking, the lots fill up fast.

I love this jogging trail. Even as it gets late in the evening there is enough lighting to see your path and feel safe.
