In my view, this is the second best place to go running in Houston. Memorial Park is by far the best, and one of the best running spots anywhere, but Hermann Park is not too shabby. Nice options for looping around, a nice little workout station, generally interesting people watching, though far less so than Memorial because there just aren't as many people who use it.

Also, of course, it has a zoo, which I think is an OK zoo, not the best, but it does draw tons of families so it must work well as family entertainment.

The free summer concert series is also quite a valuable multicultural experience and a great thing to do on a nice evening.

Add the butterfly museum and the natural history museum, and then you turn a great running park into one of the best concentrations of different experiences that you can find in the city. Did I mention that the Children's museum is right nearby? Shoot, you could take out-of-town guests on multiple days of adventure in just the places within walking distance of this park. How many other urban parks can claim that?

It's my favorite park so far within Houston city limit. It is in the vicinity of Houston Zoo and Houston Museum of Natural Science, so you can just walk to the park after you visited those places or just go to the park. There is a lake where you can fish and ride pedal boat. If you have little ones, the red-train ride is a must. There is also aJapanese Garden to explore and picnic area to eat your lunch.

This is a very clean park right next to the Museums and the zoo. It is a real gem in the city. We are fortunate to have such a resourse. More people should take advantage of it.

too bad about the pine trees, but the city has been working for years to really upgrade the park and all the things to seee inside of it!

The park hosts the Zoo and is adjacent to the Museum district. There are walking/running/biking trails. Lots of open space for the kids to run!
