“Sam Houston Park, Bagby Street in Houston, Texas”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

My family and I enjoyed touring the historic village that makes up Sam Houston Park on Bagby Street in Houston, Texas. There are several types of homes from the pioneer days of Texas, and these range from a dark brown wood frame, one-story house to a two-story white brick plantation house. There also also is a quaint little white church, complete with a steeple, built by German immigrants. The tour guide was excellent in explaining the homes and the way people lived during the various historic periods in Texas, and I would recommend the tour to people of all ages.

“A fascinating slice of history.....”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

We love historic homes, and those currently open and maintained by the Houston Heritage Society at this site are solid examples of several periods in the city's history. Our docent, while perhaps not the most knowledgeable, was enthusiastic and generally competent. Definitely spend some time in the museum. If you can wait until the remaining buildings have re-opened, do so—but if not, it's still worth a visit.

“St. John's Chapel - what a beautiful place!”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

We attended a wedding here and it was perfectly charming. The chapel is well-maintained while keeping its historical appeal.

“Lovely park in the middle of Houston!”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

Great place to 'get away from it all' and enjoy the peace and serenity of nature in the middle of downtown Houston. There is almost always something going on for those who enjoy the outdoors!
