I have been this restaurant five or six times during the past several years. The food is very good, authantic and not salty. The place is clean and small. Compare to other restaurants in Chinatown, it is expensive. However, It is about the same as Fung's Kitchen. I only went there for special occation and haven't been disappointed yet.

Bottomline: The food is of reasonable quality but is definitely overpriced. The staff is not very honest.

It is difficult to find decent Cantonese banquet style food in Houston and this new restaurant seems to provide a menu that is familiar to people who know high-quality Cantonese dishes. So, we gave that place a try.

It was around Chinese New Year and the restaurant offered fixed price festive dinner banquet for 10 people. We selected one that is usually priced at $688 but was on special for $488 (Chinese are obsessed with the number "8" which means good fortune). That menu offered the following and we'd like to comment on each:
Assorted BBQ tray - the serve was small; the pork crackling was not crunchy; also offered poor quality BBQ pork (char shiu) that we could have bought at the supermarket next door; and it was ridiculous to serve spring rolls in a Chinese BBQ platter!
Shark's fin with crab meat - we could hardly see any shark fin or crab meat. It was more a slurry of corn starch and MSG.
House special abalone - the abalones were tiny. To compensate for that, they bulked up the dish with lots of cheap oyster mushrooms.
Beef fillet with black pepper - only decent dish in the menu.
Bake lobster with ginger and scallion - smallest sized lobsters I have ever seen. We were promised 3 lobsters but we were offered two initially. After complaining to the manager, we got an extra one.
House special chicken - clearly a free-range chicken because it was so skinny and had no meat on it.
Bamboo fungus with vegetable - Slurpy to say the least. I have never seen vegetables swimming in so much soup before.
Steam sea bass - Two thinnest sea bass fillets I have ever seen.
Yee mein in fresh shrimp soup - More MSG and a paucity of shrimps.
Mango pudding - More like the lychee mango pudding we can buy in supermarket.

It was a terrible culinary experience and it was not value for money. The manager was not honest and tried to rip us off. Never again!
