“Watch out for Lakewood mega-church conventions”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2011

My husband and I were staying in Houston for a Saturday wedding and chose the Renaissance due to close proximity to the wedding venue. The hotel rooms were pretty nice inside. The windows were huge and tinted, but not opening to the outside air. The hotel sits in the middle of a large concrete plaza and is surrounded by freeway having a very typical Houston feel. Overall the hotel and customer service was OK, but we happened to be staying there during a Lakewood Church youth convention, and the hotel was swarming with thousands of kids. Literally...

This is a good hotel for business trips.
The staff is nice. Rooms are very decent.
Of interest they have a hotel bus that will drop you off to any restaurants and that will pick you up once you are done: Very practical if you want to eat out.

Rooms are very nice size, even including walk-in closet. Super cold a/c. Any problem is addressed immediately. Very nice bar in lobby. Very friendly staff from housekeeping to bartenders. Very good fitness facility.

This hotel is so nice for the price!! The beds were SUPER comfy and the people were friendly. We had a really nice view of the city and it's only a short cab ride to the bars. Only thing that would deter me from staying again was the parking and location of the hotel. It was so hard to get to and had to circle the block a few times to find the hotel parking. Even the cab driver had problems. But overall a great stay!

We were so pleased with this hotel we went to Houston to attend the Lakewood Church and was so surprised how convenient everything was to walk to. The hotel itself was wonderful. The room was comfortable and spacious. The staff went out of it's way to help. We will stay here again or any Renaissance where there is one when we are travelling.

Room Tip: Ask for a low floor.

I stayed here for one week in May for a conference. The conference price was quite good, but I think the hotel is usually quite pricey >$250/night. Parking is a bit of a hassle, especially if you have a large vehicle. Parking is located underground and is quite expensive, however I never had trouble finding a space. The rooms have a lot of light and are quite large. There wasn't any in room safe, which was unusual and there isn't a refrigerator in the room either. The rooms are very clean and the bed is very comfortable. I had a view of the pool area and highway. The pool is in a very unusual area, as a road passes right alongside it on the other side of the fence and the highway is nearby. The food is great at this hotel, there is a starbucks in the lobby, a great lobby bar and a nice restaurant tucked away in the back near reception. The fitness centre is 24/7 and has new equipment and overlooks the outside pool area. The location is very convenient, close to downtown, the galleria, westheimer and rice village. It is easy to get to and from the airport on the 59. Overall, I was very pleased with the level of service and the quality of the hotel. I would recommend it if you can get it at a decent price.

I won a voucher for this Marriott at my company Christmans party. I like the location for the most part. Our room had a pretty good view. The rooms are OK, we ate for free but it wasn't anything speacial. Lets just say i would have not been happy if I would have paid $20 for bland pasta......I have stayed in many other Houston Marriott Locations and this one is just OK........

Room Tip: High floors nice city views
