“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

This was my first time staying at a Drury. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Breakfast and happy hour food better than most restaurants. Several times during our stay I ran into the manager, Denise. Denise is exceptional. She was working non-stop and was extremely friendly everytime you saw her. Also, the people preparing the food were exceptionally nice. Nice place to stay and absolutely nothing wrong with the hotel. If I have to list a con it's not the hotel's fault. There aren't really any places to eat close to the hotel if you are having to come and go for several days. Otherwise, kudos to this hotel, Denise, and her staff!

Have stayed in Drury hotels before
This one was only fair
Halls were dirty
Housecleaning left rag on toilet
Air conditioner off and on all night-loud
Bed too soft
Coffee not available at 6:00 am
Worst of all this is hotel near airport with no shuttle service!!
Overall was not much better than Motel 6
(sorry Motel 6)

The part of town by hobby airport is not a good one, if you don't need to stay in this part of town then choose another drury inn. That being said this place is very nice for the price. Parking lot is fenced and they do have security outside. Free wifi, free parking, free breakfast, free evening "snack" that you can easily make into dinner, three free drinks per adult per evening, free cab to/from the airport. Very nice pool, half indoor half outdoor, heated in the 80's. Standard TVs that you can plug your laptop or tablet into. Good pillows, two room suite has couch recliner and chair, staff is exceptionally friendly and the GM is hands on and super friendly.

Room Tip: Get the two room suite for a little more space if your traveling with kids.

Looking for another Hobby area hotel to try out. In the area at least 1-2 times a month. Have never stayed at a Drury so decided to give it a try.

Pros:
Nice size rooms, clean, comfortable beds, the location is close to Hobby and about a 1/2 block off 45 so the highway noise is a little less than our other usual Hobby area hotel, and they offer gated parking. They also had a great fitness center with nice equipment. In the mornings they offer a hot breakfast, but I always sleep past those. In the evenings they have a happy hour with snacks - soup, baked potatoes, nachos, salad, chips, etc. which is really a great idea. They also provide drinks - soft drinks and 1 complimentary "adult" beverage. I did try the food and it was very good.

They also had a great little coffee bar that had free hot coffee 24/7.

The day we checked in the front desk staff was super helpful and very friendly.

Cons:
This hotel, although clean, needs to be brought from the 1980s into 2013. If they spent a little money on a makeover - new carpet, furniture, fixtures it would be hard to beat this hotel.

Our room was a non-smoking room, but my problem with hotels that allow smoking in any room is that it can be smelled by a non-smoker - yes, we can smell it a mile away.

They are also a pet friendly hotel, which is fine. I just seem to always be near the dog that howls or barks next door.

Last but not least, when asking for the code to exit the parking area the evening staff person must have been having a bad day. When we asked what the code was to exit, she said "you didn't say hello"...not sure if this was sarcasm or not, but either way, unprofessional.

In summary - Would we stay here again, yes. Will it be our first choice, no.

One of the best mid level hotels in area
It is clean and quiet
The happy hour has enough real food that I did not have to go elsewhere
Good breakfast as well
Close to airport but not close enough for plane noise
Has shuttle service that was very responsive
Would rate as 4+ excellent for value

Good place to stay before a flight. Food in the evening. Saved going out for dinner. Just snacks but was good and enough to get thru. Shuttle to airport. People were very nice and helpful. They have free soft drinks and popcorn.

I stayed at this property with my father in late December 2012. He is a MD Anderson patient (ask for the discounted patient rate). The General Manager, Denise, is awesome. She is friendly, attentive without going overboard and very helpful. This property is easily accessible from a major interstate, the general area is a little iffy, but parking is gated and I never felt that safety or security was an issue. This hotel is a little older, but I have no complaints about cleanliness, furniture or fixtures. Every room has a large LCD TV, refrigerator and microwave.

Breakfast is better that average, with real breakfast items, not just danish and cereal. The evening "kick back" cocktails and hot food are great. The bartender knew most guests names and preferences, and Denise visited every table. Attention to the detail along friendly and helpful staff make this Drury property the place to stay in south Houston, for one night or several.

Denise and her staff greet every guest and go above and beyond. Where else can you get a great CLEAN room, 2 hot meals and drinks for under $100 per night? I would stay here again!
