“Should not carry the Hyatt or Hyatt House Brand”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2013

This hotel should not carry the Hyatt or Hyatt House Brand. The staff at this property is friendly and efficient BUT the tool they have to work with (the property) is seriously broken; no matter how good the staff is there is little they can do.

The hotel sits on I-10 and if you have a forward facing room you will feel like the trucks and cars are in your room. The management should seriously and I mean seriously consider putting in sound proof windows similar to what airport hotels use. We even heard gun shots in the middle of the night (gain not hotels fault but sound proof windows would have spared us the hearing of it)- Worst night sleep in a hotel ever!

The hotel seems to have gone through a remodel recently BUT again when you pain over bad the bad still remains under the clean coat of paint. New granite counter tops over old vanity- at first impression looks good but at closer inspection looks really bad. The doors to the rooms had signs of being banged/kicked. New comforters covering old - disgusting! Slept and with socks on as overall carpet felt dirty.

Finally TV did not work in the room- was too late at night to deal with but again disappointing.

I have stayed at many Hyatt properties a few had small faults but this place is a really sad excuse! Avoid if you can or at least stay here with great trepidation.

Never again!

The location is nice and off the highway so it's easy to find. The rooms were nice and had kitchenette which is helpful especially if you're traveling with kids. The staff were not as friendly and breakfast selection was weak especially on weekend.

I stayed at the Hyatt for a week while in Houston on business. The stay wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t the greatest. When I entered the room there was an immediate smell of bleach, followed by a musty smell that stuck to you. All my clothes had to be washed when I returned home as the smell was still there. It was convenient to have a fully stocked kitchen but it needs updating. The cabinets had been painted and new knobs were added but the doors didn’t stay closed. The fridge was very noisy when it cut in and sounded like someone tapping on the wall. The couch area was comfortable and the tv was large enough. I did have a problem with it not being able to change channels twice and I had to unplug it to fix it. The closet was adequate but there were no drawers for items that didn’t hang. The bed was very uncomfortable and lumpy and the pillows were flat. The AC/heat was very noisy and woke me in the night when it cut in. I had a room at the back of the hotel but the road noise was still noticeable. I was on the second floor and I could hear the people above me walking around in the night. Not a great stay but decent for the price.

Simply put, this hotel does not meet the standard that I expect from Hyatt Hotels. I stayed only one night (would not have stayed longer even if I had planned to). Room was in very sad condition. Even if it was clean, it left me with the impression of being dirty. Not sure if this was built as a Hyatt House, but it looks and feels like it was a low end chain hotel that has been purchased and retagged. Unfortunately, if there was any renovation work it was poorly done. The A/C was noisy, the traffic noise was almost unbearable, and the noise in the hallway was as if someone was standing in my room. Pillows on bed were as flat as a board. Room was dark even with all the lights on. Finally, the bathroom had a distinct odor to it and the shower itself was certainly not cleaned to standards I would expect. Suffice to say that I cannot recommend this hotel for anyone and I certainly would not even consider returning.

Room Tip: If you choose to stay here, and I would not, definitely ask for a room in the back building to reduc...

Excellent service and very pleasant and professsional staff. The infrastructure, including the flimsy natue of the celings/floors and noise proofing is very mediocre in contrast to the Hyatt brand. The fitness room constitutes 3 threadmills and is very basic. Same with the remainder of the hotel but the staff's attitude and competence does compensate.

Room Tip: Rooms in the block at the back are quieter.

Very convenient location. Close to shopping and the City Center where there are some wonderful resturants. The room is spacious and the towels are oversized! Nice to have a small frig and coffee in the room. Bath tub is nothing to write home about...but then this isn't a spa!
