No complaints. The service is very good. I don't generally prefer corporatized luxury but the hotel was worthwhile and probably one of the better options in Houston. The staff tried very hard and were sincere and helpful. The room was reminiscent of a Shearton room in some ways (as at the Aspen St. Regis I stayed at several years ago) but of course, much nicer. The interior decorating shall we say was a bit grand in a, I guess, Texan way.

Houston itself is, well, a little odd, but Houstonians were very friendly.

Travelled from UK. No tea making facilities in rooms, pot of tea cost £10.00. Did not eat hotel too expensive. Plus side had use of town car,as we did not hire a car during our stay. Also County Tax $11.00, Tourism Tax $16.50, Local Tax $19.25 added to bill per nights stay. Arrived New Years Eve and to sit in bar area only charge of $20 per person. Staff very friendly, good size room.

The hotel is in a great location, tucked a few streets away from the noise of Westheimer, and easy to get to downtown, Galleria, shopping, restaurants, etc. However, as another reviewer stated the parking fees are ridiculous and you can only valet park. As usual with 4- and 5-star hotels, there is a fee for wifi. I never understand this as lower star hotels offer it gratis. For a pot of coffee on the menu for $10, you end up paying $18 for room service. Everyone there is very helpful and extremely service oriented. Definitely for the discriminating traveler. The bar is lively, on the weekends at least, with a live band and mostly mature crowd.

As a Starwood Gold member we looked for a nice hotel at weekend value for a one night family visit to Houston so thought the "St Regis" brand would be a pleasant weekend. The hotel is pleasant but not up to the St Regis expectation with thin walls and somewhat standard size rooms. The hotel is also in an unusual location if you are Galleria-bound, it is two blocks east of 610 on the otherside of the freeway from ths shopping area. It is an easy drive into the Oaks and Midtown area.

Whilst there are a few positives such as pleasant staff, comfortable rooms, an interesting bar with Saturday night live music, the biggest NEGATIVE is the ridiculous pricing of parking and room service. Overnight parking amounts to $29.23 before tips - a rate not paid virtually anywhere else in the world including London, Paris or Hong Kong for equivalant 5 stars. When returning to the booking to check this charge - it was the LAST item on a 4 page booking.

There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room - not a problem - we will order from room service for that wake up refreshment. Whilst the service was prompt and well presented, a total of $28.77 for a strong cappucino ($10.75 with the extra shot) and two teab bags and some hot water is a charge not seen even at the Burj Dubai.

If there was a next time, Starbucks is 2 blocks away.

The staff did not respond to our requests for assistance regarding the cold pool and the loud drunk wedding party that kept us awake as they partied with their blaring loud music at the pool for several hours. When we checked out, the bellhop brought the bags down and we tipped him. He said valet would load the bags and left. The valet left my husband to load the bags in the car as he saw a new car and took off to grab that tip. The other valet people just stood there and watched my husband load the bags. The valet that had taken off then returned as my husband was finishing the loading of the bags and was obvious in his behavior that he expected a tip. There was nowhere for our guests to park as there is only valet parking. View from hotel window is of decaying neighborhood. We did not feel safe parking on the street. Older hotel with aging facilities.

Very Spacious Rooms - received a free upgrade to a corner room. Hotel staff are courteous and professional. Meeting spaces are large and varied. Lunch at the restaurant was of excellent quality. Breakfast food was of very good quality - but is served a la carte and not buffet style so one owul dbe wise to allow an extra 15mins for ordering and service. Only hiccup was that some of the business centre computers were a bit clunky and we would have liked to be able to rent either some very large monitors for the presentations. If they have an airport shuttle I was not made aware of it. Not your cheapest option by a long shot but reliable quality and good value for the money.
