“A great piece of history”

We visit every time we go to Houston. The best juke box and bar in town. Always meet interesting people and enjoy the history associated with the building.

“Lovely bar”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2013 via mobile

Visited on a tuesday night and there was some good live music. Great choice of local beers and a good choice of wine. Reasonable prices - $4to $6. The upstairs area is only open on Friday & Saturday nights though which is probably good as downstairs is quite small. Well worth the visit!

“Found by accident, very quaint oldest Bar!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2013

Really liked the bartendar really knew his wines!!! Didn't like they were out of a lot of things due to some sort of inventory. This place is worth going too for sure especially due to the History of the building and the pictures like a museum!!

“Oldest bar in Houston divine wine bar”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2012

Not a restaurant but its a fabulous bar, France meets Houston, the sort of bar I have never managed to find in France. In fact took a few days to find it here, exactly how a wine bar should be, great wine list, muted lights, music on tap, friendly people. They talk to you everywhere in Texas.  Southern America just has people power  in spades.
The Historic district in downtown is not busy on a weeknight evening.. but there are several cool restaurants.   From the  Magnolia head away from Maceys towards the last stop at the end of the Metro line.

“Great City View”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2011

This has been one of our favorite places ever since they added the patio upstairs. If you get there before 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, you usually have space available. Nice, even romantic, spot to enoy drinks and conversation away from the typical club scene.
