Let me begin by saying that this is one of the most fabulous resort properties I have been to. Lots of space, landscaped lawns, several pools to choose from, lovely restaurants and bars - all with al fresco options. However, a few words of caution- there is no empathy from the management despite paying a rather large sum over 6 nights of stay. A simple request to move us to the empty room opposite us, was met with total indifference (beware lace ous). The request was due to the noise factor coming in from a neighbouring condo construction. All this, aside from the anxious hours we faced when the front desk / reservation could not locate our bookings after a long over night flight and a 3 hr journey to the hotel. One last thing - the f&b sucks - the menu has all of 4 thai dishes and they arrive in the tiniest of portions. You are better off trudging elsewhere for meals, despite the fab resort settings...

Room Tip: No matter what, take a sea view room on a high floor(10th).

Incredible view, fantastic facilities and mouth watering morning buffet.

We cannot recommend the Rayong Marriott hotel highly enough. The most child friendly dining, pool and play facilities ever seen in a hotel. We spent our wedding anniversary there and the staff surprised our room with roses, balloons, wine, chocolate and a card from all of the reception staff. Truly a special occasion. The Rayong Marriott staff went above and beyond catering for us from start to finish and we sincerely cannot thank them enough. The best hotel experience we've ever had. Book the ocean view with the lavish breakfast. Happy hour at each restaurant/bar and enjoy the infinity beach pools. Special thanks to Julia Gerhard for liaising with my friend Gemma for the elaborate surprise and Khun Chanjira for the splendid chocolate dinner after dinner. Khun Ninpradab, the front office manager who oversaw the whole priceless experience and we sincerely appreciate their hard work, professionalism and personal touch.

Room Tip: Ocean view with breakfast

Nice new luxury resort with secluded/peaceful location on beautiful and sandy as well as stretchy/long beach. We had a perfect check-in as well as check-out. Once we arrived (via private car) the bell staff were quick to valet our car and to escort us to the reception where we were swiftly addressed by name and checked-in by the Resident Manager Khun and Khun Lek. As it was my birthday a piece of cake was waiting for me in the room. Nice touch!

The hotel is well managed with capable staff throughout and a very contemporay and appealing overall design theme of semi modern trend yet very cozy. We occupied a 80sqm junior suite on the 9th floor which is very well designed, layed-out and provides a comfortable feel of coziness. The separate living room is fronted by large sliding doors leading to the balcony with stunning ocean views. There is also a guest WC next to the living room. The bedroom is also facing the ocean but no direct access to the balcony; which is a little surprising as a door would have been an easy addition. The bed is typical Marriott standard of high comfort enabling us to get a perfect night's rest! The adjacent walk-in closet is huge and makes it a pleasure to deposit luggage and cloth. The semi open concept bathroom is also huge (seperated to the bedroom by large sliding doors) with two sinks, shower, WC and a semi-free-standing bathtub. The infinite mirror effect is also a nice touch! Bathroom amenities are ok but could be of higher quality for a suite. Another "issue" is the fact that they only provide one set of amenities and make-up-mirror which is ok if the two sinks are together but here they are opposite and completely separated thus one of us needed to walk to the other side to fetch the amenities.

The breakfast was good and plentiful and well presented. The main Restaurant has a rather limited a la carte menu (we had lunch there) and the food is ok but could use a touch of improvement i.e. Pama ham with Rocket salad was ok but the ham was sliced too thick and the salad was just a few leafes which we could count and the dressing was hardly to be found. The beach bar (Fish Bar) is again nicely designed and with friendly staff. The two dinner we had there were good. The first one was ok with a deep fried Grouper (very good) whereby the Aussie Ribeye steak was rather jewy and over cooked and so was the pork. The second night we had Barcuda steak, steamed Grouper and the spring chicken...all was excellent! They also serve nice bread with dinner. We also enjoyed the bakery shop where you can watch how the "sweet stuff" is prepared through a large window and the cakes as well home-made ice creams were delicious ...so was the ILLY coffee!

We had two rather extensive spa treatments which were both absolutely professional, relaxing and most enjoyable and worth every baht we spend. We both must admit that we had most likely the best spa treatment ever! The separated and space generous spa building is connected with the fitness center where we also enjoyed a nice steam and Swedish sauna session prior to the spa treatments. The spa also has a beautiful design theme with comfortable layout and separated shower/change room. One thing they could add to the spa suite is a some better and additional amenities such as proper hair brush, hair gel/mousse, hair spray and powder.

The two pools are both nice but the lagoon type larger pool is a true oasis with an Infiniti edge facing the sea and plenty of sun beds are ready. The only thing was that we had to search for pool towels as the pool is huge and there seems to be only one pool towel station. We also could not get the attention of any service staff around the pool thus during our 2 hour pool visit we did not order any drink of snacks which we planned to do. there are also no menus on the side ta les.
Also a definite must-use ist the stunning and very clean beach...perfect powder sand and the beach seems to go-on for miles and miles without much people at all!

The new Marriott Resort in Rayong is highly recommendable and perfect for that peaceful getaway. We will be back soon!

Room Tip: Junior suite or corner suite!

We don't understand the negative reviews. We are here for Christmas 2013, and the hotel is in a prime beachfront location, with two excellent pools and the beach is tidied daily, one pool is 140m long! The staff are all very friendly, from Chai on reception through to the new barmaid & to the very happy & polite lady gardener. The room is very good and is exceptionally clean; yes does need a remote control for the air con, but it is not a great hardship. We have paid for an upgrade so have a corner room, sea facing, good view from the 7th floor; and yes there is some minor construction work going on, but it is not noisy. The hotel is isolated but there are courtesy buses, taxis not too dear, and you can hire a moped at the hostel in nearby Ban Phe for scooting around. You can also do boat trips to the islands from just along on the beach. Recommendations would be a bin on the beach, maybe some umbrellas, and as exceptionally lazy, as so relaxing here, a phone to contact the pool bar. We can both thoroughly recommend this hotel, it is definitely Marriott standard. Finally our plane was badly delayed & so I emailed Marriott customer services, we received a response from the hotel manager which was swift & reassuring.

This resort has only opened about 6 months and in fact not everything is open which is reflected in the great promotional rates. Having read some negative comments earlier reviews (some being the first review so a little suspicious) I had a little hesitation in booking, but after 3 nights I could find very little to fault in such a new resort.

In summary:

Positives:
1. Beautiful open views of the sea and extensive grounds.
2. Well appointed, tasteful & spacious rooms.
3. Very good buffet breakfast with better than average selection.
4. Attentive and friendly service from all staff.
5. Wonderful recreational facilities– large lawns, a huge lagoon pool with 2 slides and aquarium, beach side ‘adult’ pool, kid’s pool, large gym/fitness, great Kid’s club; very spacious.
6. Two F&B outlets – C-Salt (breakfast and also weekend dinner BBQ buffet – excellent value 700 baht pp); Fish Bar – BBQ market selection seafood (reasonably priced with good taste).
7. Lovely stretch of clean beach in a relatively under-developed area.
8. Large lobby areas for lounging in.
9. Great for families.
10. Quiet, even on a long weekend (not all guest rooms are open yet).

Negatives:
1. A little isolated if you don’t have car. There is nothing really in walking distance.
2. Balconies a little small.
3. The resort is large, so it’s a bit of a hike to the beach.
4. Lacking in trees – need time to grow I guess.
5. No A/C control bedside, had to walk to the panel at the front door.
6. No night light in bathroom.
7. Breakfast can be a little busy; it seems that currently the include breakfast for all rooms.

There’s not much reason to leave the resort, but for those who want to explore there a couple of nice beaches – Mai Phim (turn right) and Suan Son (turn left) less than 10km from the resort. Mai Phim is long stretch of white sand with a number of large seafood restaurants near the end and Suan Son is beautifully lied with causarina trees and popular with locals. Aside from Koh Samed there are also possibilities to do some snorkeling at other nearby islands.

The resort takes 2.5 to 3 hrs to reach by car from central Bangkok.

Highly recommended and worth paying extra for seaview room.

Room Tip: Pay extra for seaview room. High floor not necessary. Corner rooms particularly spacious.

Dear iprahin,

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our resort. It makes me very proud of my teams efforts in making this a resort that people from Bangkok and around the world will want to visit in the future. Thank you for your positve comments on the physical hotel, but more so on the staff themselves. They put in a big effort to serve our guests everyday and many of them are new to this exciting industry . As the resort matures, the trees will grow and we will add more; the last of the rooms should be ready for guests before New year and our sync beer and cocktail studio should also be opening on New Years Eve for the inhouse and local customers to enjoy.
A couple of suggestions for your next trip. Our concierge staff are always willing to give you a golf cart trip to the Island view pool if you dont feel like wandering the winding pathways to the beach; oh, and breakfast is really peaceful at about 6.30am if you are willing to drag yourself out of our comfortable beds a little earlier to beat the crowds.
we look forward to seeing you here again soon.

Well, first of all, I could not say, this is a Marriott. I made well negative Experiences and I will not book a Marriott again (or book only the Marriott, I am convinced, that they are a REAL Marriott).
On our arrival Day, we got our Mountain view Room, with a nice view on a Construction, which started the next morning at 07.00 am to work. Of course, it was impossible to get further sleep. Good morning Marriott...
There where no ameninity, like I was used to get at the Marriott or Renaissance (which belongs to Marriott). Totally not acceptable.
The Toilette was leaking in the Bathroom, and the result of that was, a water filled floor in the Bathroom...
There where also NO AIR EXTRACTOR, neither in the Bathroom, nor in the Room itself) This was very annoying and usually, they have in 2-3 star hotels air-extractors, but unbelievably not here in the Marriott Rayong.
And the worst experience is, 3 Huge cockroaches in the Room, when I woke up in the Night (I made Pictures of them on the Spot and they where about 2 inch each).
I also hurt myself badly on the sliding door of the Bathroom, which is really not user-friendly.
After our first and really horrible night, I went to the Reception to ask for another Room.
I was ready for arguing, but there was no necessary, as the Staff where very helpful and we got a "free upgrade" to the sea-view room. Thank you for that Marriott, but it still doesn't reimbuse our first bad night...

The Breakfast is definitely NOT a Marriott like Breakfast. Absolutely not satisfied with the Breakfast, for which i was really looking forward, but unfortunately, I got a big disappointment. Also, We asked 3 Times to get after 10 Minutes our 2 simple coffee's.
The Housekeeping was very unfriendly and had a bad attitude, because they where not smiling at all and just gave us bad looks. We could see, they where definitely not trained by Marriott.
The Hotel was not to busy, but still this kind of things happened, even the Hotel is just a couple of month old.
I am very disappointed of the Marriott Chain and will look in future for other Brands...

If someone wants to book this Hotel, because it is a Marriott, don't waste your time and Money, as this is really not a Marriott like Hotel, with cheap Furniture and No Luxury, even it is the "BEST" Hotel in the City of Rayong.

I would not book this Hotel again and also can not recommend this to a Friend.

Room Tip: If you are not bothered by Construction sites, you go ahead and book the "Mountain view Room&qu...

Dear Samuirep123.

Thank you for taking the time to comment and share your view of our resort with the tripadvisor community. I am very sorry we dissapointed you with so many aspects of your recent stay. From neighbors building their home in the property next door, to having a faulty toilet upsetting your first night, to having to ask more than once for your coffee and waiting 10 minutes, I understand your unhappiness. I am mostly saddened by the impression you received from our Housekeeping associates in "having a bad attitude" and not smiling at you. I will be personally taking this up with the team. Of course, I will take up all of your issues with the team and we will continue to use valid feedback in making improvements to our processes and services in the resort. Thank you again and even though you say otherwise, I hope you will give the opportunity of our hotel or one or more other Marriot branded hotels to enjoy a stay, in the future.

Stayed at the resort for two nights and three days for a relaxed getaway with my wife and two kids. The resort is very well done and the service is very good. The infinity pool next to the beach had music playing underwater, which was a great surprise and very soothing. The beach itself is great, with sand that felt like powder and the water very clear and clean. The kids loved spending time in their kids play area where they provide ample bonding activities. The quality of the food was average, though not too pricey. Overall, fantastic experience!
