“Companion to Maninjau”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

The view of the lake from one of the hills is beautiful. I can't remember what's the name of the hill but I remember coming from the Payakumbuh, Istana Pagaruyung side.

Worthwhile to come... it's a nice comparison between Singkarak and Maninjau as they both have different characteristics.

“The wider lake in West Sumatera”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

If you want to go to Sawahlunto from Padangpajang you will pass this lake. You need to stop in once to enjoy the scenery. It's so peaceful.

“Not the pick of Sumatra's mountain lakes”
Reviewed October 18, 2011

Lake Toba is one of Indonesia's most fabled sites and the lesser-known Lake Maninjau is also very beautiful and a truly relaxing place to hang out. Singkarak, on the other hand, is girdled by some very rundown old 'resorts', ugly, sprawling towns and indifferent scenery. You couldn't recommend this place.
