“Proud”

We went in the evening and it was so beautiful. I had seen it from a distance so may time.We took out of town friends ..the guy is a Vietnam vet marine. We all had tears and a bit speechless. With hearts in throat we read all the war our country has been in and recalled family member from all our families who had given their lives for us to have the privilege to be out and about enjoying a cool breezy Texas evening among friends . All of us are in our late 60's, semi retired professionals.

Any Marine driving through Harlingen this is a must see. Has a neat little museum tucked in the corner of the Marine Military Academy

“Great stop to connect with history!”

My son attended summer camp at the Marine Military Academy nearby. He was excited to show me the memorial and grave site of one of the Marines who raised the flag at Iwo Jima. The museum was great also, and the volunteers at the gift shop were very friendly.

“Simply inspiring”

One can reach out mentally and feel the texture of the actual battle, the spirit of the individual, the color of the scene. It is dramatic. . Makes one proud to be an American

“Didn't have enough time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2014

We saw this monument while riding around it in a bus. I would have loved to spend more time here and seen the Marine parade. They had just finished when we arrived. There is a lot more to the story of this monument than the popular one that most people know. It's worth doing more research.
