We took my daughter and 2 friends to Great Wolf for her Birthday present right before Christmas. Fun, safe place for them to run around and play!! One of our girls fell in swimming area due to slick floors, within seconds, she had several lifeguards and staff members checking her for injuries!! Very impressive! She was fine, few scrapes, but they were very attentive to her and I was impressed!!
Kids loved the story time, magi quest, but I do suggest buying paw passes!! It'll save you money in the end!!
It was a very pricey place, but overall, a great place to go for mini vacation!!
Not sure if we will go again, unless my daughter insists, figured we could say we had at least been there, done that!!!

Great service from all employees. Very clean rooms. Loved the extra attractions and experiences for the kids for minimal cost. We booked a suite for 5 adults and 2 kids and had plenty of room. The nightly story time was geat every night. The breakfast buffet was good especially enjoyed the bread pudding. We recommend it to friends and family to try this out.

We just returned from Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine. We had a good time. It's absolutely covered up with children so don't go unless it's a time you plan to focus totally on the kids and on them having fun. The water park was fun for them. Being mostly inside you didn't have to worry about getting sunburned. The food was average and expensive. The rooms were average and very expensive. They were kept in good repair and were clean. There was a fun arcade where the kids enjoyed winning tickets they could redeem for little prizes like stuffed snakes and such. The kids really enjoyed it and that was the point of the trip so it was time and money well spent.

Room Tip: Try to get away from the stairs and elevators. First floor is very convenient as elevators are quit...

The water park is the draw here. Rooms are similar to a holiday inn, but priced like a Marriott Resort. It's a kids weekend with tons of fun kids activities, but very pricey so buyer beware!! They get you on all of the little charges in addition to the room. Our total for a 1 night stay topped $600 and we got a standard $299 room. Not a big deal, but if we had not been watching- could have been a huge surprise!

The Great Wolf Lodge was beautiful and so inclined to cater to young children. We took our four children 16, 11, 8 and 6 and they had a blast. The waterpark was very clean and always supervised by the lifeguards. The indoor pool was great only that the clorine was very strong. The rooms are very ample and beds were great with the exception of the sleeper sofa, needs to be replaced. Purchasing the Paw Pass was the highlight for our younger children they really enjoyed getting all the things for "free" according to them. The lodge is a bit expensive but you will get your money's worth. It is also very close to Grapevine Mills Mall.

Room Tip: Room with a pool view is awesome, we made a game of counting how many planes were desending for land...

Decided at the last minute that my daughter and I wanted to take my two granddaughters (ages 7 & 11) for an overnight trip. We live less than an hour from the lodge.

Got the King Suite, with the pullout couch, which was fine for all of us. Although official check-in is at 4pm, we got there about 1 pm, to take advantage of the early access to the water park. Self-parked close to the front entrance, at no cost. Front desk told us the room would be ready fairly quickly, and they'd call my cell phone to let us know exactly when we could get into the room.

With that being the case, we decided to have a bite to eat, and ordered a pizza at the walk-up food place on Level 1, near the waterpark entrance. Easy to find a table for 4, without problem. Hint: rather than buying 4 soft drinks at $3/each, buy the entire liter bottle for $4, and the cups are free. During lunch, they called and said the room was ready, around 2 pm. After eating, we went right to the room, which also happened to be on Level 1. It was Room 1067, down a rather long hallway, but we were quite happy to be away from the elevators and activities area that are all adjacent to the water park entrance. Room was fine, clean, and plenty big enough. Great having the room keys embedded into the wristbands given to my daughter and I.

The waterpark was great, and the two girls loved it. They were fearless, and we went along for the ride. Nice variety of attractions, and easy to get to the outdoor pool area, as well.

For dinner, we went to the bar and grill, on Level 4. Although it wasn't crowded, service was a little slow. Food was standard franchise variety (like Chili's, Red Rooster, etc.). I was happy to see some vegetarian options, like a nice Veggie Burger.

At 8 pm, we went to the Bedtime Story Hour in the main lobby. It was packed with at least 100 kids and parents, and the show itself left something to be desired. The first 10 to 15 minutes is talking and singing by some outdated audio-animatronic animal figures, and many of the kids were visibly not interested. The "live" part of the show was a little over-the-top, which mostly consisted of a teenage girl excitedly reading a book about the main character's adventure..........AT GREAT WOLF LODGE. Poor attempt at cross-marketing, and it failed to appeal to the two older kids. They rerun the show at 9 pm, and the crowd was much smaller. You could actually hear the characters dialogue and singing, but it was still boring.

Next morning, checkout was at 11 am. We were at the waterpark a little before it opened at 9 am, and enjoyed it until 10:30 am. We then went to the room, got our things together and left the hotel. Took advantage of the Express Checkout, where you can just leave the hotel. Dropped everything in the car, and went back to the waterpark. You can enjoy it, until it closes that night, which is a great opportunity, especially on just an overnight stay.

We had lunch at the walk-up restaurant IN the waterpark. The food was pretty good, actually, especially the turkey and cheese wrap (no veggie fare on the menu).

After a couple of more rides on the waterslides, we were actually ready to leave. All that fun can wear you out!

Was it pricey? Yes. Was it fun? Yes. Would we do it again? Yes.

Enjoy!

I went to the Lodge expecting a wonderful vacation with my son and his friend. Yes, I knew what I was getting into when a made the reservations – lots of kids, noise, a basic water park, and an expensive mini-vacation… well, at least I THOUGHT I knew what I was getting into.

Pros:

•The boys had a good time which was nice.

•The in room safe (though oddly placed), microwave, and mini fridge are essential touches.

•Clean rooms and linens are a good thing.

•Comfy beds in a hotel is a rarity.

•Nice water park that is well shaded indoor and a pool area with a few slides outside – even the outside pool area has shade throughout the day

•MagiQuest is fun for kids and adults alike.

•Fort Mackenzie, Coyote Cannon, Howlin’ Tornado, and River Canyon fun were loads of fun.

•For Starbucks lovers there is a full-service shop on property

•“Free” wifi

•There is also an on-premises spa/salon and fitness room

Cons:

•A small bathroom with an in-suite sink reduces privacy.

•The room was way overpriced at $399 plus $70 in resort fees/taxes per night.

•The restaurants serve OK food at nearly-fair prices but service is slow and I’m not sure why it takes so long to bring you a glass of juice. They have a huge restaurant (The Loose Moose Cottage) that closes early for dinner leaving you to either drive off property for dinner or face an over hour wait to be seated in the much smaller restaurant/bar (Camp Critter Bar and Grille) – poor management.

•Our order at the pizza shop (Hungry as a Wolf) was in error both days and wait time for a cheese/peperoni pizza was 35 minutes.

•The wave pool is more like an “ebb and flow” pool.

•The room never got cold enough.

•If you are a light sleeper be warned – the hallways are very noisy.

•Atrocious elevator wait times routinely over 5 minutes for an eight story hotel. We finally began
using the stairs but eight flights is a lot of stairs.

•You can tell that half the staff loves their job and they are very helpful with a smile. The other half, not so much.

Final thoughts:

The hotel gobbled up our entire travel budget by itself and I still had to feed the boys and let them have some fun. A "drive-to" vacation spot, such as a water park, should never cost a family $1300 for a two night's stay. These are Disney-like prices without all the magic of Disney. They have a great marketing angle and lots of believers. Be informed with your choice.

Room Tip: Choose a room on a lower floor to avoid the long elevator waits.
