“A quality property and covers all your needs”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

We stayed this spring for a meeting and a few days of relaxation. This is a great resort! We have stayed at several of the Gaylord hotels and we are happy with each stay we have had. The resort has all you need during your stay and we facilities are well maintained. There is a variety of food and Texas themed restaurants. It is an expensive resort depending on the season and the plan you find. The bar just a few yards from the front door has a great view of the lake and sunsets. The best bet is to get a VIP table package and food and drinks are included in the minimum. This package should cover 2-4 adults. Loved the indoor pool for laps and did not use the family oriented outdoor water park, but it looked nice and lots of families were taking the trip over. This property should meet your needs while you vacation or take part in a meeting.

Room Tip: Be aware to add the parking costs and the resort fees to add to your cost. Be aware for the start of...

My wife and I spent the weekend at the Gaylord to get away for a few days. We enjoyed our weekend staycation but there were a few bumps. Overall we had a good time. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful. I think the place is a little to large for it's own good and somewhat under staffed.

Pros:
We booked a low rate room for an in town weekend getaway. We were upgraded at check in to an oversized, atrium view room on a corner. The room was one of the larger non suite hotel rooms I've seen.

We ate on property one night. We were told the wait would be 30-45 minutes but were seated in 10. The food was fine and not overly expensive. I would recommend reservations if you eat on property and have more than 2 in your party as the restaurants fill up quickly.

The resort is large but fairly easy to get around. We planned on walking to the off site water park but the shuttle was leaving when we walked outside so we hopped on.
The water park is .4 miles away from the main hotel at the entrance of the property. It's a nice pool/ water park facility. Great for families. Maybe a little small only because of the size of the resort and the amount of guests trying to use the park.

Cons:
The line and wait at check in were like nothing I had seen before and we have stayed at several resorts of comparable size. There were about 50 people waiting to check in before us. The line moved more swiftly then I expected and we were at the counter in just under 30 minutes. I've still never waited more than 5-10 minutes to check in anywhere.

We left to go to paradise springs water park at 9:45 am and housekeeping was working on our floor. When we returned to our room at 3:30 pm the room still hadn't been cleaned and we had to walk around the property for 30 minutes while they finished with our room.

We arrived at the paradise springs water park at 10 am which was wise since chairs were hard to come find by 11am. The lazy river gets a little busy and chaotic if you don't like crowds it's not for you. We expected it and didn't mind. Our server was attentive and got our orders out quickly. However, in the afternoon when we wanted to leave, we could not find her to get our check. This was because of the lack of staff for the amount of guests at the location.

Upon checkout we had to wait in line to leave the parking garage for probably 15-20 minutes. Only one exit open when they have four or more. It was like leaving a sporting event and little frustrating.

We checked in last night with two families of four. We were given two rooms with one king bed each. After two hours of going round and round with so called management were were given two single roll away beds and were told the 4thlast person would simply have to sleep on the floor. They were graciouse enough to give us extra blankets for the floor sleeper and told us they would not charge us for the extra roll away beds. Wow. After a lond night of us crammed in a king bed I went to get coffee at the coffee bar. 15 people in line and two people working. Again wow. There was a constant line of at least 20 to 30 in the check in line all day with about 3 to 4 people working. The water park was packed. It was clean and we were there in time to get the last availablle chairs. Again the service was horrible. Our waitress so so slow which may not have been her fault and she forgot several items. We simply gave up. We couldn't even find her to check out. I am a very patient person and this place has exhausted my patients. They pack as many people in as they can and make them fend for themselves. I will never be back. JW Marriott San Antonio will forever be my getwaway.

have the opportunity to view this hotel in different areas.
The convention area is amazing well organized staff was just amazing i love it, we also have dinner 2 times there and the banquet servers were really nice and working really hard, sound, space, etc just great. The rooms are really cozy with a beautiful view, have a room on a high floor overlooking the inside of the hotel, it had a balcony which let me relax and drink a cup of coffee looking at the hotel "LOVELY". Walking around the hotel is nice a lot of walking but its worth it and beautiful, a lot of stuff to do and you really do not need to go anywhere. Family welcome or business trip just great. indoor pool outdoor pool and pools where you need to take a shuttle to get there, they can be for kids or like me become a kid again and have fun around the lazy river and the slide , can't say enough of this wonderful hotel and staff.
if you are going to Dallas and don't have a car was around $60 to 65 dls one way to get there but if you take a town car from the hotel it make it nice :) LOVE IT , The restaurants and coffee shop inside are goooood :)

Room Tip: high floor overlooking the inside of the hotel with a balcony makes a difference, just lovely

Great hotel, fantastic staff, near airport, good indoor infrastructure and extremely responsive management. Food is average at best and way over priced because guests are captive customers ($3.75 for a cup of coffee at coffee stand). Shuttle to nearby locale very inconvenient and not much is out there anyway, The Glass Cactus has better food (a long walk) and very good country western band.

Room Tip: River view is better than looking into a wall or roof top. Lone Star Tower has better access to conv...

Attended a business conference here. The hotel was huge which reminded me of how people are always saying everything is bigger in Texas. The restaurants are good and i highly recommend trying the fried pickles! The room was very comfortable and the staff was helpful. They take Christmas very seriously here and while i thought it was early to begin decorating (first week of November), the hotel apparently did not and the entire place was decorated for Christmas. It was beautiful! A Christmas wonderland! If visiting this hotel, it's a beautiful time to go.
