“Very Nice Lots to do”
Reviewed April 25, 2012

The resort was huge.
Went for an event and everything was perfect, Atmosphere, food and entertainment.
We used the gym a few times and it was better than any other hotel gym.
The night club was fun but expensive.
The pools were great an indoor and outdoor and a lazy river pool.
The room we had overlooked the atrium and had a great view.
The restaurants were nice good food just a little pricy.
Parking a little bit of a pain and expensive for valet.
All in all a very good place.

We stayed at the Gaylord Texan on a business trip. The rooms were spacious and the staff was extremely accomodating. The facilities at the hotel are incredible, right down to the numerous delicious restaurants and the train layouts running through the atrium. You need to come with the expectation that you are going to spend money for sure. The Old Hickory Steakhouse food was fabulous, but the bill for two was substantially higher than our room rate.
The valet parking was expensive ($25.00) but a bargain when considering that the self-park was $17.00. The staff was courteous and helpful and the hotel was super clean.

We stayed at The Gaylord for 3 nights last week and honestly could not have slept in that bed one more night. The property is nice but as other reviewers have said - it can get very expensive. The first evening we decided to sit by the pool and have a drink and some food. Our drinks did not taste good - my margarita was sour so I sent it back and it came back a different color but tasting the same. My nachos were cold so I had to send them back and again they came back cold. The poor waitress was trying but she just couldn't fix the problems. $66 for 2 bad drinks, cold nachos and an undercooked hamburger. We did enjoy the Italian restaurant the next evening - nice atmosphere and good food. The big problem is the bed - hard as a rock. When I got up the first morning - I hit the button on the phone that says "consider it done" and told them that I found the bed very uncomfortable and I asked if all the beds were the same in the hotel - her response was "yes they are all the same" and that was it. After I hung up, she called back to say that she could send up some extra blankets as lots of guests find that if they stack them under the sheets the bed will be softer!! I asked her if they had mattress pads and she said no. They did send the blankets quickly. Be advised that if you want to use their Paradise Springs pool - it is quite a walk. You can't park there unless you've rented a private cabana so if you have little children be aware - it is a hike to the pool area or you can use the shuttle which I would imagine can get crowded. The atrium is a nice area but overall I would never stay there again as the beds are extremely hard.

This hotel caters to primarily business and convention attendees but they do a nice job all around. The hotel is truly beautiful and it is designed to give you a taste of several different regions of Texas. This is a very unique proery that is "Disney" quality and you kind of get that feel as you walk around in the massive lobbay and adjoining atrium. It would have gotten 5 stars but there were some weaknesses, some the people that worked there were a little bit less than hospitable and the transportation services left a lot to be desired. If you are coming in from out of town DO NOT rely on the Gaylord to pick you up in a timely fashion via a shuttle or a hotel vehicle. If you do use them for transportation it is EXTREMELY expensive. Make sure sure you book your own rides via taxi or rent a car while the area.

Stayed here for a convention/classes and it was great. If you want you never have to leave the resort. Shops, food, recreation--its all here. The room was great and clean as could be. Shared it with another employee and we each had our own sink to use--nice for getting ready in the morning. My only disappointment was with the sounds coming in from the hall or the room next door--there does not seem to be much sound proofing to these rooms. I will review the food places that we ate at in another review.

Room Tip: We were on the third floor of the Hill Country side and the windows faced the parking garage. Nice...

I was very pleased with everything about the hotel. The service, hotel cleanliness, availability of things to do and see. I particularly loved the restaurants and bars that were in the restaurant. I loved the Texan Station. It was great to watch the Rangers on the big screen. The only reason I did not rate this 5 stars is I was in my room about 9:30 a.m. one morning with the "do not disturb" sign on my door, and housekeeping kept repeatedly trying the door, and also were extremely noisy in the hallway screaming at each other.
