My girlfriend and I enjoyed an excellent dinner at the Eighteen Ninety Grille & Lounge while on a recent trip to Granbury. The steak was one of the best I've had - anywhere - and the service was impeccable. We started with the Texas Trilogy, which is chicken and quail wrapped in applewood smoked bacon with a jalapeno sliver and beef tenderloin. The Center Cut Filet and New York Strip were delicious, as were the garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach we enjoyed as our sides. For dessert, I highly recommend the creme brulee...we both agreed it was the best we have had anywhere. The setting and ambiance for the restaurant was perfect for us, and a jazz duo provided music for dinner conversation. This is truly one of the town's gems, and we can't wait to go back for another superb dining experience.

Amazing and fantastic location and decor, but the food was not as good as the prices. That is by no means saying that it was bad, but it was a Texas Roadhouse quality steak for more money. In fact, every person in our party of 6 said that other chain steakhouses had better meat for less money. It still was very very good though, and the location and ambiance definitely added a star to the rating.

Had a reservation. Found out they don't even open until 5:30 p.m. for dinner. Arrived at 5:15, which threw the staff into a tizzy. After a wait while the person at the desk took a phone call (business) while we stood there waiting, they finally let us upstairs where the dining room was. We were told the staff was in a meeting, so we couldn't sit at our table, but we could have a drink at the bar. There were three of us, and there weren't enough chairs for all of us to sit as all the other chairs were occupied, which seemed to throw the staff into another tizzy. They didn't know what to do. So we stood around, and eventually, they let us sit at our table, but we were told we couldn't order anything until 5:30. This did not sit well. If the front desk is going to take calls, there should be two people assigned at the desk at all times. They should have sat us at our table immediately if there was no place at the bar, and the bar waitress should have come over and taken drink orders. Have the staff meeting earlier so you have staff to help the customers. I can understand if the kitchen isn't open, but this is their opportunity to sell drinks.
The food, when we got to it, was very good. The salads were excellent, and the steak was cooked expertly. The brocollini that I ordered, however, was very tiny, a couple of little stalks. The filet was tiny, too. The ribeye, on the other hand, was a good portion, and a better buy. We're talking $31+ for an entree, but it does include the salad and one side. Coffee was outstanding, and the desserts looked good. But the staff needs major training, and I'm not sure I'd want to go back.

Tiny bar area, so people are often standing around, but the wait for dinner is worth it. The service is great, the ambiance is terrific and the food is outstanding. While they have many worthy dishes, the steaks are their specialty. The ribeye that I ordered was cooked perfectly to medium rare, served with mushrooms (or your choice of side) and salad. The steak prices are a little high, starting about $30 up but they are all large - the smallest is 16 oz. Mine also came with blue cheese butter on the side, which enhanced the flavor all the more. The beer was ice cold and the wine prices were very reasonable. The wait staff was outstanding as well. Warning, there are very few tables and they are full starting at 5:30 pm, so reserve ahead of time at their site online.

in addition, the appetizer we had came recommended by a friend, the Texas Trillogy was also outstanding - chicken, applewood smoked bacon, quail and beef on a skewer. Yumm! From now on when we are in or near Grandbury, we will dine here for sure.
