We thought we had a decent time, but will not be rushing to get back.

The GOOD: The golf course is FANTASTIC. The views are incredible, the fairways and greens were in great shape (but its only May). We played two rounds on Sat and Sun and enjoyed both. Our wives joined us and the clubhouse was nice enough to give us an extra cart.

The views in general and amazing for this part of Texas. Its quiet and relaxing in the evenings.

The rooms were clean, large and comfortable. Except for AC and poorly stocked toilet paper.

The BAD: The restaurant was horrendous. They messed up my burger, if you can believe it. The rates dinnertime are way overpriced for what you get. The service is friendly, but slow. I asked the hostess if they allow wine to be brought in, and she never got back.

The AC unit is as lound as the previous review suggests.

There was nothing for the non-golfers to do. The pool was too cold and there is little else to do on premises.

FINAL WORD: if you are going there to golf, worth every penny you spend. Otherwise, spend a little more and find a full-service resort.

We just got back from a mediocre weekend at the Cliffs. The room was spacious however the a/c unit in the room made it feel like a motel room. Everytime we sat on the balcony, we had to turn off the a/c because we couldn't hear ourselves over it. The comforter looked like it had been washed numerous times.
Tried to rent a jetski from the Cliff's marina, the "Ship Store" operated by PK Thrills. Although we had reserved it on a credit card, they gave our reservation away stating that we were late for our reservation. We found that to be odd because they scheduled it for a time 30 minutes prior to the time we actually called in. When I told the attendant that it didn't make sense because I called 30 minutes after the time they had scheduled me in, she said the employee who took the reservation had already left for the day. She also said a big group came in that had been renting a lot from them, so she made a judgment call and rented our jetski out to them so the group could go together. She also said that she called our hotel room. Unlikely, because there was no message left when we got back to our room.
SHe did offer to rent a boat to us that was several hundred dollars more. Gotta love that type of customer service? The impression she left us with was why keep a reservation and rent just one jetski, when you can rent out all of them to a group?
We proceeded to go to the pool which was located a ways from the actual room. It was decent but nothing to brag about. The pool towels the front desk gave us where old and for the size of a child.
WE DID ENJOY the Chaparral Grille. Expensive but worth the money for this gourmet cuisine. The waitress and the asst. mgr were very wonderful and made our experience a enjoyable one.
When I checked out of the hotel, only one of the front desk people were helpful. Upon arriving at the desk, I patiently waited as a mgr or asst mgr was helping one of the front desk people with a computer problem. Although I was the only customer there, they looked up shortly without even as much as a smile, and looked back to the computer screen. No, "we'll be with you shortly," or "someone will be here to help you in a minute." There was no acknowledgement whatsoever. There was another employee 2 minutes later who saw that I was waiting and attended to me. I felt very ignored and belittled, when I saw them quickly jump up and greet the next customer who walked in afterwards, an older gentleman golfer. I guess we were not the type of customer they take pride in, young successful ethnic people.
All in all, possum kingdom is beautiful. However, out of all the exclusive resorts that we've stayed in, I would have to say that this one is lacking in making the customer feel welcome and making sure the customer is taken care of.

Very disappointed in our stay hear. Room is large and spacious, bathroom also a great size and employees were very helpful. However the rooms are cooled with the same small units you find in a motel 6 and were very loud when it turned on and off! So every time it turned on and off it would wake you up. I can normally sleep through anything, but not this. You could also hear the other rooms around you turning on and off. Very few places to eat. Restaurant service very slow. View is beautiful. Manager was kind enough to let us check out early. So much for our romantic weekend away.
