This is a wonderful relaxing property. The grounds are amazing with places to sit and reflect everywhere. This is the perfect place to bring children. I was on the property for a meeting, but would love to return with my grandchildren. They will love seeing the animals and playing in all of the areas designed just for them.

Room Tip: Prairie Cottage - very charming and I really liked the Sunflower Room.

Great atmosphere for families/ kids. Wouldn't recommend for a romantic get away. We stayed in the farmhouse and would look into other options if we go back. Since the house is divided into two " cottages" you can hear everything going on next door. If they get up at 7 so do you :(
My daughter loved feeding the bunnies in the morning and making necklaces in the barn.

We have 4 cabins for romantic getaways, but the Farmhouse and Prairiehouse are large houses divided into wings for reunions, weddings or groups that generally need more space. Our apologies for not clarifying that during your reservation process. We 're very glad your daughter liked the Barnyard!

We stayed at Country Woods Inn for two weeknights during July 2013. Unfortunately, it rained most of the time, but we had our rain boots so we were still able to walk the property and feed the animals. If you are going during the Summer there might be a burn ban in effect, like there was when we were there. This was not Country Woods fault, but we weren’t able to enjoy the fire pit to cook hot dogs and S’mores, as planned. The cabin was equipped with a microwave and stove, so we were still able to enjoy our goodies. We stayed in the Carriage House and it was so cute. Plenty of room for our family of 3. There is a living room and kitchen, which are separated by a bar/island. There is a separate bedroom with two double beds and a TV with cable and DVR as well as a separate bathroom. The bathroom in the Carriage House has a small shower (no tub), which was fine for us, but for people with small kids who need a bath, you might want a different cabin. I had read about low ceilings, but I wasn’t exactly sure what that meant. The ceilings in the bedroom are just over 6 feet high, which was also fine for us, but someone 6 feet or above will have to duck. There is also a porch outside where you can sit and enjoy the evenings or watch the kids play. We loved the location of the Carriage House. It is right next to the Barn where you can eat breakfast on the weekends and where you can find chickens and a pig. It steps right out to the petting area that has goats, chickens, ducks, a sheep, a horse, bunnies and a dove that you can feed. Just behind it is the corral where there is a billy goat and a cute little donkey. There is also a hammock, tetherball and a fire pit. We walked all the way around the property and found the chapel in the woods and saw the Train Car and Cabin in the Woods tucked away. We might try one of them next time, although they are a short walk away from the animals, which was the highlight for my son (and me). We will definitely be staying here again.

We had the BEST week at the Country Woods Inn in Glen Rose, TX! My husband had a few days off so we decided to pack up the kids ( we have a 3 year old daughter and a 7 month old daughter) and get away from the city for a few days. Only about an hour outside of Fort Worth, the Country Woods Inn was the perfect retreat for some family fun and relaxation. A few of the many highlights of our stay were having breakfast in the barn, feeding the animals, hiking the wooded trails, and teaching our 3 year old the fun of croquet and tether ball. There is even a toddler playground complete with a lemonade stand!

We ventured off on several day trips exploring historic Glen Rose, Granbury, Hico, Dinosaur Valley State Park and Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. With everything there is to do and see it wasn't surprising that our 3 year old didn't ask to turn on the TV once! She did however repeatedly ask to feed Tomcat the horse, Zachary the goat, and Eliza the donkey. We ended our days catching fireflies and roasting marshmallows over our fire pit. What a special place and a week we will always remember as a family. I look forward to our next visit because we are definitely going back to the Country Woods Inn! We highly recommend it!

Last year we brought our 4 & 2 year old boys and my parents and stayed in the Farmhouse. There was so much fun stuff to do we didn't even need to leave the place to have fun. Our kids still refer to Country Woods as "our new house" and have been begging to return for a year. We came back this year and brought some family friends. Again, too much fun stuff to do. Even when the water level is low there is a resort across the street with a pool you can swim in for like $3. They have thought of everything you might need even down to a jar to collect fireflies. The toys and fun stuff around the houses provide endless fun for all ages. It's the most fun and affordable vacation we've ever had. Book early b/c the spots fill up fast!

We stayed two nights in the Rail Car May10 and 11 2013. The location is absolutely great. It is on the back of the property in a beautiful wooded area. We have two children, a girl age 7 and a boy age 9, and they both loved it! The property is well kept, and the rail car was well equipped and decorated so well in the train theme - it was perfect. There is a playground in the front yard, and the children also loved the barnyard and the hiking trails. We would definitely recommend staying at this property.

Room Tip: The rail car is more in a secluded and a short walk to the barnyard and other cabins.

We had a lovely stay for 3 nights with our 3 and 6 year old children. As native Dutch, this was a true experience of Texan hospitality. The house was nicely decorated with personal touch to it and well equiped. Lot of toys for the children to play outside and they had a truely nice time. A stay worth recommending.
