My husband and I spent our anniversary at Inn on the River in Glen Rose and absolutely loved it ! They get excellent marks all the way around - from courtesy of staff to wonderful bedding and linens to gorgeous grounds. They even have free bikes for you to enjoy on a ride around town or trails. It is a rather large B&B with about 20 or so rooms i believe - but we didn't feel crowded. We still felt like we were in a small B&B - the service was excellent.
There is not that much to do in Glen Rose so we traveled over the Granbury (15 minutes away) for the evening and ate at the Nutt House (food was decent but not awe-inspiring!) and saw the Granbury Live show (very good, sad to see the cast is relocating to Fredericksburg - they did a fine job!). Granbury has a ton of little shops to explore... we went back the next day on our way home and did some shopping. Pamela's on the square has the best fudge I have had in a long time -- soooo good!
Back to Inn on the River... i wish we would have had dinner there but in coincided with our plans to see Granbury Live. I have a feeling htat dinner would have been a little better b/c breakfast was wonderful! The rooms themselves were a tad bit small, but not so much that i felt cramped or anything. The furnishings in the rooms were antique and beautiful. Did i mention the bedding was VERY nice ?? :)
I think the best part of that Inn was the grounds - absolutely beautiful !! From HUGE old oak trees along the river bank with plenty of Adaroindike (spelling?) chairs to relax in. They have a beautiful garden and a swimming pool (still too cold for me to go swimming though). It was a lovely place and I would definitely go back if i wanted a relaxing weekend to feel pampered and rejuvenated !
