Have been to Tres Rios in Texas many times, this year we happened to be here for the annual chili cook-off in March which was too much fun. We did not participate but sampled many great chilis. We went around to different stations and tasted the chili, overall a great fun day for everyone. In terms of the RV Campground itself, Tres Rios is absolutely beautiful. It has a very “Texas” feel to the whole place, and the three rivers are beautiful. It is great to take walks along the rivers, which snake around the campground. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. I would recommend Tres Rios to any one of my friends and fellow RVers.

The Tres Rios was bought out a few years ago. They have done some great improvements and still are. There is a lot of spaces for RV's and I mean a lot. There are a lot of family reunions there because they have halls for the family to gather and cook. Yes my family reunion included. Everyone loves going there. They have cabins but book way ahead they go so fast. We rent the Horse Stall it sleeps a lot and it's real close to the Hall for the reunion. They have a pool it gets crowed sometimes but what do you expect when it's hot and kids lives in a pool anyway. We like floating under the water fountain and hey I am 58 yrs old. I wish I lived closer I would spend more time there. One time they had a band there and everyone in the park was there it was for a wedding. I hope you have a great time there.

Linda

We bought a new RV from an RV dealer here in Texas this spring and were offered a 1 year membership at Ocean Canyon Properties’ Tres Rios RV Resort in Glen Rose Texas. To activate the membership we went to Tres Rios with our RV and stayed for the weekend, we were informed by the dealer and the folks at the Ocean Canyon reservation center membership we were required to take a 90 minute tour to review Ocean Canyon’s membership camping programs, so we knew they were going to try and sell us something..but we prepared ourselves for that. When we arrived at the resort, the staff was very helpful. They guided us to our RV site and helped us get situated. They offered to show us how to use some of the features of our new RV, but since we are experienced RVers, we told them it wasn’t necessary. We had never been to Tres Rios before and we were in for a treat. It is situated in a beautiful location at the junction of three rivers. The grounds were well kept up and all the facilities were clean. Some buildings and cabins date from the 30’s and the outside facades are very unusual and quaint. When we went on our sales tour we saw the inside sides of the cabins all had been recently remodeled. The resort had plenty of activities for both the kids and adults, including a tractor ride around the resort in an open trailer. On Saturday evening they had a great steak dinner followed up with some country music and dancing. We didn’t fish in the river, but we saw some good size fish that people caught.

I see from this site that a lot of people weren’t happy having to sit through a 90 minute sales presentation. We came in understanding that we going to be tried to sell something, so we were prepared. Our sales rep was pushing real hard to sell us, but he also was very informative, polite and took the time to answer our questions. As we learned more about Ocean Canyon and their other properties, we realized that a membership for us was a good deal, because we planned to use our RV a lot and this membership would save us a lot of money. Plus their resorts are spread all over the Southeast in some great areas. So we decided to upgrade the free 1 year membership, which allowed limited use at Tres Rios, to a Silver membership allowing unlimited camping at all the Ocean Canyon Resorts . Since we bought we have travelled to other Ocean Canyon resorts. We went to Mountain Lakes in Guntersville, AL and Abita Springs RV Resort in Abita Springs, LA. These two resorts are very different, but beautiful in their own way. The staff treated us like family and we met a great many other Ocean Canyon members that have made membership camping a lifestyle.

It appears that some of these people who posted on this site were probably coming out to the resort to get something for nothing or an Ocean Canyon membership was not for them, but from our experience, we didn’t find any justification in their nasty comments. That is why we felt we should post our experience, because sometimes people are inclined to post negative things about something, but not positive things. We highly recommend Tres Rios and although we haven’t been to all of the resorts, from our experiences at Mountain Lakes and Abita Springs, Ocean Canyon has made us feel at home, we really enjoyed our visits and meeting other Ocean Canyon members.

This place is way over represented. Basically nothing more than an open field with hookups. No shade, tables, trees, or anything else. Any KOA would be better than this place.

I have no idea why these people are saying bad thimgs about Ocean Canyon. They have spent millions in renovations to all of their parks in the past 6 months. Tres Rios is nice but you have to go to Alabama an stay at mountain lakes. It is the best biggest most beautiful campground you will ever stay at. Well worth a membership for free camping for life!
