Very convenient access from DFW area for a day trip.
It has its share of "things to do" for people of all age group.
I really liked the dino theme park and the trail experience in the state park was worth it.

Great hiking trails - easy and fun for the whole family. I would recommend taking the yellow trail to the overlook. It's a nice view and a very peaceful spot to break up your hike.

my first memories of camping are from this park. This place brings the past out of text books and makes it so undeniably real. You can follow the trails of dinosaur foot prints all throughout the river and banks. You can visit the cool museum at the visitors center and visist teh creation museum just down the road. Load up on dino suveniers at one of the best stocked texas state parks store you"ll ever find too! Make sure to take pictures by the giant dinosaur sculptures outside too. The river is shallow and cool, and there is a natural "jakoozi" at one point in the river where a small hole has been worn into the rock, it's the perfect size for two adults to sit in and the river rushes around your shoulders. But the best part is the shear wonder of the place. A review can't quite do it justice. Watch out for taranchulas though! They are plentiful in the park.

This is a State park and is for being outside...just down the road is Dinosaur world and the younger kids love this place! By the entry are footprints for everyone to enjoy and touch...even sit in if small enough! There are several replicas of dinosaurs for picture moments. We hiked along the river and the kids played on the playground during a sunny day in January. It is very relaxing and has a great souviner shop with books by John Graves. There is a fun swimming hole here where the Brazos river curves called the Blue Hole and it stays busy through the summer. Nothing bad to say about this place...for the price it is a great place for families!

I see the other reveiws and there seems to be some disapointment from some, but hey folks thats ok not everyone is so easily impressed with walking where dinosaurs once actually walked and seeing the tracks they left behind millions of years ago. I know there is not alot to do other than seeing the tracks in the bed of the Brazos river, but I love fossils and you can actually find many fossils all along the river bed in the summer when it's low. I know your not supposed to keep them and i dont but the fun for me is finding them. It's like catching a fish and throwing it back for someone else to catch on a later date. I would not drive 3-4 hours to go here and that be all I have planned, but there are other things to do like Cleburne state park is only about 30 minutes from this park so you can hit two in one day.
