“It.s Was The Sign On The Window---Homemade tamales”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

This is a real Texas home cooking place just a few blocks from the downtown center in Garland. It is country so don’t expect white table clothes and upscale waiter service---as it is not going to happen. Good food at a reasonable price for lunch. Understand the breakfast is also very good. Will have to try at a later date.

“If you've seen one country style cafe... You've seen them all”
Reviewed August 1, 2012

Fair to middling southern comfort food.
Visited many times and thought because we were there typically on Sunday morning for
breakfast was reason for poor service since it is one of their busiest times.
Possibly because there was not a man at our table service at best was hit and miss.
Have gone for a late lunch several times alone with same dis-interested service.
Their concept reminds me of another fantastic hole in the wall with same down home cooking on Harry Hines which closes early also but their food and service is formidable.
Have heard Hubbard's Cubbard's wait staff compared to Hooter’s but that’s a dis-service to Hooter's as Hooter’s wait staff is professional.

“Good Grub Downtown Garland”
Reviewed April 11, 2012

A good little restaurant that serves up pretty darn good food for the buck. Good wait staff. Nice atmosphere. Just off the historic square in Garland, TX. Some nice shops and stores abound the area. Be sure to check out the old Feed Store down by the railroad tracks. A step back in time to say the least. You will see stuff that will remind parents of a slower, quieter period of society, when folks were not too busy or too involved in transparent and empty electronic relationships to stop and actually say "hello" face to face. Have eaten at Hubbard's several times. Plan on going back too. They also have great pie, that is if you are lucky enough to get a piece before they are all gone. Enjoy, relax and return.

“Good home cooking”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

My friend and I usually go to Hubbard's after mass on Sunday for breakfast. We split the plate with tamales, eggs, hash browns, refried beans and tortillas. It's too much for one, but just perfect for two. Very tasty. The salsas are good too. Everybody's very friendly and helpful as well. The decor is typical Texas small town. The restaurant has a very comfortable, homey feel.

“Food is OK”
Reviewed December 23, 2011

I go there about once a month with a friend because he really likes it, and it is usually his turn to buy, so he is the choser. The 'girls' are usually very good looking with great figures, but I am there for the food which is overpriced for a 'greasy-spoon cafe'!!! At least they have NO Smoking now throu-out. I have been there for Breakfast and was not all the impressed.
