Sun-Thurs prices are comparable to chain motels. A great place to base your visit to Galveston and The Strand. Great rooms, wonderful staff. Convenient to the dockside attractions, Fisherman's Wharf, the Elissa, and much more.

I couldn't say nicer things about a hotel! The Tremont House staff was welcoming and polite. Always quick to offer suggestions to restaurants & driving directions. The grand rooms with the high ceilings made our young daughters feel like they were in a castle. Comfortable beds, long mirrors, huge windows... all so nice! The spacious bathrooms made sure we were all comfortable while getting ready. The warm water got warm quickly and stayed warm while we all got showered! If you've ever stayed in a hotel where hot water supply was limited, you know how much of a luxury that is! The valet service was great and accommodating... pulling our car back around a few minutes after we returned and had forgotten something in it... all while in a pleasant mood! Right around the corner from the downtown area, convenient to restaurants and shops. Our first time and will definitely not be our last!

We regularly visit Galveston for a quick mini-vacation. We usually stay at hotels along the seawall, but we found the Tremont here on Trip Advisor, got a great deal through Expedia, and decided to give it a try. The property has a boutique-hotel or bed-and-breakfast feel. The old-fashioned charm blends with twenty-first century amenities. Our atrium-facing room was clean and very comfortable, the lobby bar was nice, and the front desk staff was courteous.

My only complaints are that nowhere on the Tremont's website (at least anywhere I could find) does it note that the rooftop bar is only open Wednesday through Saturday. My husband was really looking forward to relaxing on the rooftop, but we booked Sunday through Tuesday and could not take advantage of that particular amenity. I guess we'll just have to return on a weekend. Also, the valets were courteous and prompt, but the price for valet in my opinion is a bit high (although it is cheaper than feeding the metered spots, if you are lucky enough to find one near the hotel, which is the only other option if you have traveled by car). We did try to use the Hotel Galvez pool, but it was too crowded (understandable, with guests from two hotels using the pool).

All in all, the stay was pleasant, and I think we may stay again, this time with a bit more knowledge about what to expect.

Room Tip: 51 rooms (i.e., 251) are next to the elevators, so you can expect to hear noise and traffic from the...

My wife and I stayed at the Tremont as a quick getaway, and we were way impressed by the beautiful interior, the spacious room, the charm of the atmosphere, the proximity to great food and shopping, and the ease by which we were able to spend time at the Galvez pool, a sister property of the Tremont. Though the valet was the best parking option, the young men were prompt, courteous, and the unlimited in/ out allowance made the expense worth it. For an island vacation in a luxury hotel without the luxury price, this is the perfect place to stay.

Room Tip: Use the amenities offered at the Galvez, including the spa and the pool, to make the most of your st...

I just returned from another galveston trip..My daughter is attending graduate school there and we went down for 10 days to help her settle in. we again stayed at the tremont for the entire stay and once again it was superb. the most cordial staff that I have ever encountered in all my years of traveling. from the front desk to the bar staff to maintenance and beyond we could not have been happier. the food in the cafe is great with a full Starbucks drink menu and wonderful breakfast panini...breakfast pizza...frittata and a quiche to die for. There are computers at the booths for guest to use which was very helpful to my daughter who needed it for quick school use.The rooms are spacious and spotless and the rooftop bar is a a must...Happy hour drinks are generous as are the bar appetizers. All in all a great stay in a wonderful...wonderful hotel!!!!!

Room Tip: We stayed on the 4th floor which we loved...Just a note to make people aware that this hotel also ow...

Hotel upgraded us to a one bedroom suite that made our trip outstanding. Suite was living area in one room and bedroom in the other room. There was a wet bar as well. The hotel was walking distance to everything tourist in the City but it was not too close to a usable beach that we could tell. A great hotel if leaving on a cruise. A nice bar for relaxing too.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on your stay at The Tremont House. As you mentioned, The Tremont House is within walking distance to several attractions. The hotel also provides a shuttle to our sister hotel - Hotel Galvez which is just four blocks from the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier and across the street from the beach. We hope that you'll give that a try on a future visit.
