Everyone was extremely friendly . It was cold outside and sitting by the heaters outside on the roof was so nice. The Hotel was decorated so nice. I will definitely come back and have to bring my children so they can experience this historical hotel as well. Nice and comfy hotel.

The Tremont is an amazing hotel with plenty of history its right in the middle of everything happening downtown (The Strand) but one block over so its quiet. The rooms are small but well appointed.
You also have full advantage to use the pool, spa and resort on the beach The Galvez...their sister property.
One partcular we really like about The Tremont is the roof top deck and bar. This is really a nice place to have a drink and relax...especially if you want a lil romance. They recently remodeled the roof with trendy yet comfortable furniture, added some torches, landscaping and background lighting and music. What a difference that made. I have always found the staff to be friendly and attractive.
The only downsides are..,it's a lil pricey for the cocktails and the hotel manager is a jerk. But he isn't at the roof bar often according to the staff. Thank God...

Be prepared for an older, historic hotel which we thought was cool. European-style room, only big enough for a queen bed (comfortable!) and very tall ceilings & doors. Hotel has a fun rooftop bar which is open Thu-Sat until 12 midnight. There is a comfortable bar in the lobby area as well. Also be prepared to pay $17 + tax (a bit steep - come on, it's just Galveston) for valet parking each night! Unless you wish to scramble for street parking which we wouldn't recommend - they gotcha there. Easy walk to Starbucks, the harbor area, restaurants, etc. You can visit the sister hotel Galvez (need to drive) that has free parking, pool area (a bit cramped), a fabulous lobby area, and an onsite spa. However, the rooms were not bigger at Hotel Galvez - we were allowed a peek at the rooms which seemed bland in comparison to the tall majesty of our room at the Tremont. It really just depends on where you want to be - near the Strand or near the seawall. Complaint: don't ask if we need help with luggage and then let us drag the stuff up the front steps ourselves! Perk: it was my husband's birthday and there were two plates of complimentary chocolates waiting for us in the room. Thank you!

I would not stay there again. The building and lobby is beautiful but the rooms are not nice enough for the price. Our room was not very clean, hair in the bathtub and on the floor. The mirrors and furniture had fingerprints and smears indicating that they had not been wiped off. One of bathroom sink knobs were broken. The room in general was old feeling by no means elegant. For the room and parking with tax I paid $276.54 for ONE night. There was not even a mini fridge in the room, but was told they could get me one if they had one available. We were not allowed to take a cart to our room to get our own luggage, and with valet parking we were hit hard on the tipping. Even the coffee pot was a one cup filler with paper cups. The accomodations were more like $59.00 a night hotel. Don't waste your money.

We stayed on our honeymoon (before departing on a cruise) and were very disappointed to find that were were given the key to a dirty room (one that housekeeping had not yet cleaned). I waited in the hallway while my husband went to back to the front desk to resolve the problem. While I was waiting, one of the cleaning staff did come to the room and I told her the situation. She commented that this seemed to happen a lot (the computer reports that the room is clean and ready when it has not yet been serviced). She said that if it were her she would ask for a suite as compensation. Apparently the front desk did not feel the same way since they gave us the exact same room one floor down. Incidentally, the closer you are to the lobby the more noisy it can be from the activity at the bar (this didn't really bother us but it should be taken into consideration when you are placing someone it a particular room). However, I think the worse part was when we went to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. I had a really good overpriced sandwich, but when I was eating my fruit I realized (halfway through) that the blueberries had mold on them. We should have reported it but earlier the girl at the counter did not understand me when I asked for a coffee stirrer so I didn't bother. We stayed because it was close to the cruise port and it looked charming. We wanted to walk around but it is a long walk (especially with the heat and humidity) to the beach, but it is right at the strand.

Historic but thoroughly modern hotel with incredible high ceiling rooms with hardwood floors. Spent two days at the beach over labor day and it was nice to retereat to the Strand area at night to get away from the crowds on the seawall. No concierge on duty which would have been helpfull since we are new to the area. Room service was quick but average in quality. Bistro worked well for breakfast.

Would stay there again and all were pleasantly suprised with the quality of the beach (Stewart beach) experience and Galveston as a whole. Lots of character and unique architiecture. New amusement park on the pier was fun for the kids.
