We stumbled upon this place while looking for something off the beaten path and are so glad we did. The service was great; quick with a very friendly, personable waiter. They make everything fresh when you order, so they warned us it could take a little longer, but our food came out quickly. Everything tasted great. Crab stuffed jalapenos, fried, grilled and pull 'n peel shrimp, oysters, crab cakes, catfish with Pontchartrain Sauce with crawfish and crab, and these delightful shrimp kisses. They also have red fish, flounder, and soft shell crab. We couldn't have been more satisfied. A lot of food, and all of it tasted great. The gumbo was good, but they could have thickened the roux a little more. Still, it had sausage, chicken and shrimp and tasted good. Nate's is pricey, $17 - $25 for most items, but that's consistent with the price you pay for seafood on Galveston. They also have a number of non-seafood items, including a chicken fried steak the waiter told us draws lines out the doors on Monday when it's on special.

Recommended by homeowner of beach house rental, not recommended by my family. Slow service by a waitress who didnt multi task, forgot to take our order, and since all of our meals were cold assumed she had left our orders sitting in kitchen too long.

Young man who was to provide set ups and clean up visibly stood in room facing dining room rubbing his belly, playing with his hat and hair then fixing diners water/tea etc. without washing up.

The food....we had seafood and chicken dishes. Lot of food options including grilled veggies. Veggies were grilled at one point but were cold and tough as if had been reheated. Pinto beans were thick and mushy with stringy onions, these also tasted as if reheated more than once. Mashed potatoes and gravy, again tasted as if made at breakfast time. Corn and green beans looked and tasted like from a can and sitting in hot water all day long.

Very disappointing "seafood" at the beach. Tough catfish, oysters and fried shrimp.

The other food servers were prompt and friendly but more importantly did not act stressed and frenzied as displayed by our female server during our dining time. Our service would have been more prompt which in turn means our food would have been served hot.

Tried Nates on the offchance it would be good. And it was closest to our resort (which was a good 25 minutes from downtown Galveston). Delicious! Had catfish, cheeseburgers, chicken fried steak, peel and eat shrimp (on several visits). Inexpensive beer and friendly staff. they even helped me try a crawfish for the first time. I would highly recommend Nate's to anyone in the area for some homecooking and casual atmosphere.

Full bar and friendly wait staff. Had a great burger within easy walking distance to the locl rv park. Lots of locals seemed to be there. Could use some local atmosphere. beige walls are hohum .Small joints like this need some fishing nets or something to give it a fun atmosphere. Would defiantly eat here again.
